Hi all, I’ve had various scans and blood tests for suspected Womb cancer due to sudden post menopausal bleeding 6yrs after my last period and an endometrial ablation. Something has shown up on the ultrasound scan and I have a slight borderline thickening of the womb too so I have waited 7 long worrying weeks since my “urgent” referral for a hysteroscopy and biopsy under general anaesthetic and during this time have had a couple more episodes of bleeding. I’ve had no bleeding though for 29 days & typically am just starting to bleed again today 4 days before my op! Is it likely to cause problems if I’m bleeding when the operation is due to happen? Has anyone else successfully had the procedure done whilst bleeding? I’ve waited so long and feel so worried that if there is something growing it could be spreading so I really don’t want it being delayed again…. Also when I do have the biopsy how long in your experience does it take to get the results? Thanks everyone!
Hi Kizun,
I'm sorry that you have felt the need to come on here even though you don't have a diagnosis... this indicates to me, just how worried you are.
First of all, it's very difficult to comment on this situation because I'm not medically trained. What I do think is, if the Drs were concerned that it was 'serious', your appointment for biopsy surely would have been much quicker, more likely within two weeks.
With regards to the results, I think probably a 2-3 week wait, but you could ask one of the team looking after you to see if they can give you a more accurate timescale.
I do hope that everything goes smoothly for you and please come back to share results. Try not to worry, it won't change the outcome, but it will make you feel more stressed.
Best wishes
Helen xx

Hello KizUnn
Welcome to the Online Community. I am sorry that you are having such a worrying time.
I was told that it would not be a problem if I was bleeding on the day of my biopsy. I was still bleeding when it was done and it didn't affect the results. It can be more difficult for them to see using the hysteroscope but it is the biopsy that is the important bit- that's what they said to me- so please don't be concerned about it being put off. Take some pads with you as you will bleed after the procedure as well. I took some night time ones and they were exactly what was needed for the first 24 hours. After that it was more regular pads for a few days.
I had my biopsy done on a Friday in outpatients and I had the results the following Wednesday. I had opted to be told by phone call which probably speeded it up. I was on an urgent list.
Hope this helps, but if there is anything else you want to ask please do so. Good Luck for next week and please let us know how you get on.

Hi KizUnn
I've had ongoing significant bleeding all year and confirm it has not negatively impacted any of my procedures including hysterscopy, biopsies or implanting of Mirena.
Hi KizUnn. I had a hysteroscopy and biopsy on 12th July and was bleeding at the time and it wasn’t a problem, after all, bleeding was why I was there. While in recovery, the surgeon came to tell me they’d found some abnormalities and would send it off urgently. It took less than 2 weeks to come back. I’m waiting for an urgent hysterectomy now, that’ll be on 15th September. I hope my experience helps with expectations but I’m guessing each hospital will be different and your results will be more favourable than mine.
Good luck
