Valuables in hospital

I have a keyhole surgery for a hysterectomy booked. I''ve not had an overnight in hospital since 1980, so really don't know what to expect. I've received a letter from the admissions team, telling me not to bring any valuables as the hospital won't accept liability etc. I'm expecting/ hoping to only be in for 1 night, so hadn't planned on taking much in. But what do you do about essentials like door keys and phone?

  • When I booked in for my op, a nursing assistant made a list of things like phone, iPad etc that I’d brought in so that they were logged. I didn’t take any jewellery.

  • Hi London Loop.  When I had my hysterectomy a few months back the only electronica I brought with me was my phone and a very elderly Kindle.  I left my house keys with my husband.  Other than that I just brought my night clothes, slippers and toiletries.  Hope this helps.

ps. Love the name - have you walked the London Loop?

  • I only took in my old iPhone and an old Kindle. House keys can be left with family if possible. You don’t really need money. No jewellery. My purse was tucked inside my overnight bag and was in my little side cabinet.
