Check Ups After 5 Years

I went for my 5 year check up a couple of days ago, thinking/hoping that I would be discharged.   I had LVSI so needed radiotherapy and brachytherapy following surgery.  While examining me internally, she said there was something she wasn't sure of and wanted a second opinion.  I of course panicked and thought the worst!  The Consultant came in and also had a look, and was explaining something about a white patch right at the top, and it being atopic and nothing to worry about.  In my panic I wasn't sure what he meant by Atopic and I can't really remember what he said other than because of lack of oestrogen due to having my ovaries removed it can happen.  The first doctor then said they will see me again next year - not because they are concerned but because they are being kind!  I remember a conversation a couple of years ago when I was told the hospital was considering extending beyond the 5 years for patients that still need the reassurance, of a check up,  but I didn't expect that to happen with all the cutbacks and everything going on in the NHS.  So I am not sure whether to be relieved or not, I would rather they hadn't seen something that needed checking, but then again I will be seen again next year just in case so I think that's probably a good thing!

I would be reassured that everything is ok. The query was probably due to the Dr covering herself because she works under the Consultant. If you'd seen the Consultant only the query wouldn't have arisen as he is more experienced.
