So, after six days on antibiotics, the swelling under my wound still hasn't gone down, so I wonder if it could be a lymphocyst, a fluid-filled cystic structure. Has anyone experienced this after their op?
Hi Marmite, thanks for your message. I have spoken to my CNS, she seems to think the swelling will go down in time and to get in touch if it doesn't. I've also been to the doctor, who said the same thing. Yes, good idea, I'll call the ward tomorrow for advice.
I had a very large swelling following my surgery I too had anti biotics for a week with no reduction in swelling, I rang the ward and went for an ultrasound scan which showed two areas of fluid build up behind two incisions one the size of a tennis ball the other golf
ball size, my surgeon diagnosed them both as haematoma s which they said should just re absorb back into my body, they booked me for a further scan at 12 weeks past op which I had two weeks ago, the smaller one has completely gone and the larger one is now 5 really small patches so are also re absorbing, hopefully if you ring the ward you will get a scan then you will know exactly what it is. Thanks for your message. I'm so relieved that I'm not the only one who has this problem. It's been such a worry. I rang the ward today and they will be back in touch tomorrow. They will consult the doctor, who wasn't there this afternoon. I hope I can get a scan soon. Many thanks for the advice. I hope your patches disappear completely. Xx
