Hi All
I had the hystereectomy on Monday and came home Tuesday afternoon. I didn’t see the surgeon , a doctor i hadn’t met came and said she was asked to say all went as expected and once the nurse was happy i could go home. I was still a bit groggy so I didn’t ask how long before I get the pathology results. I asked the nurse and she said it varies but possible 2-4 weeks. How long did anyone in a similar situation wait? Thank you x
Hi Lancslass. good to hear it's all over and you're back home. Histology typically takes 2-4 weeks as the nurse said. It depends on staffing levels in the labs I suppose. (The target window date if you would need to have Brachytherapy is usually 6-8 weeks and I've never heard of someone waiting that long).
Put your feet up, take it easy, go for short walks if you feel up to it and try and put it out of your mind. Impossible to do, all we ever seem to wait for something or another.
Sending gentle hugs, Barb xx

Hi Lancslass, it varies from hospital to hospital. I had my op on 22nd Jan and had a pre-booked appointment with my consultant for 11th Feb, as he knew the results would be back by then and thought he was away on the 4th. As it happened, I got a phone call bringing it forward to the 4th as he had become available. As it happened, when I got my results I found out they had been discussed at the MDT that very morning. Do you know on which day of the week your MDT meets?
MDT is a wednesday at my hospital, my post op check up appointment came through for wednesday 5th october. I was told the report would be before then, fingers crossed xx
Hi Lancslass
Glad to hear that you’re at the other side of the surgery.
I had surgery 11th August and got my results from my CNS on the 23rd. They rang me as my consultant was going on annual leave so I would have been kept waiting if I’d waited for an appointment and I was happy to get the results over the phone. It was much quicker than I’d expected.
Take care
Hi Mavis, I hope you don’t mind me asking - how did you get on with your results?
Hi Marmite
I don’t mind at all. It was the best possible outcome, no signs of spread and stage 1A so no further treatment required.
That’s fantastic news - I’m really pleased for you!
Thank you Mavis. This is the last hurdle hopefully, I am fully expecting the all clear, everyone keeps reassuring me it’s caught early, but naturally a tiny worry until I hear for sure. xxx
