Dear lovely ladies,
I must apologise that I haven't been on here for a while. My wife, Pauline, had a full hysterectomy in March and then did 3 sessions of brachytherapy as a belt and braces approach.
P had a laparoscopic operation which was very successful - they found loads of endometrial scars from when she had endometriosis in her younger years. She is amazing in how she coped with the monthly pain - it was absolutely horrendous for her - and now we know why.
We are now three weeks post-brachytherapy and touch wood, the only symptom P has experienced is tiredness. She is a very active, outdoorsy person, so she is struggling with being so tired. I have to remind her (frequently) that she's just been through a major operation and then brachytherapy!
Thank you to those of you who offered words of comfort, words of advice and humour during what was a very stressful time.
P has her first check-up booked in for August - got everything crossed all is well.
I wish you all totally positive thoughts for your sustained recovery - you are all rock stars in my opinion!
Emma x
Hi Emma, glad to hear from you with news of Pauline’s recovery. I had 2 brachy sessions as well as my 25 x radio - my treatment finished on 19th May. I honestly think the tiredness is partly from the op, partly from the treatment and partly from the whole emotional roller coaster ride. Hoping she’s able to be patient with herself and that her energy levels return soon so that she feels more back to normal.
Hi Emma It is good to hear from you with an update. It is no time at all since Pauline had her op and many of us are not very patient patients!! I agree with MarmiteFan59 that we all go through so much emotionally as well as physically with the tests, diagnosis, operation and other follow up treatments.
Pauline will get there especially with your support. XX
