Hi all

well hysterectomy done yesterday I’m very impressed how I’m feeling I was up and about 20 mins after returning to ward for a wee lol no real pain just what you would call strong period cramp if anything can’t twist and coughing is a bit hard but I stayed overnight mainly for my blood sugars out of control

home now comfy and being spoiled lol histology results hopefully in 3-4 weeks but concentration is on recovery from op first x cancer can come second if need be

going for a snooze lol and blood thinning injections to do at home x love to all

  • That’s all good news Zippy - so lovely it’s all over and you are home again.  So you didn’t have a catheter when you went back to the ward?
Take care of yourself and take it steady.   Ooh yes - those injections!  Not a great memory Bouquet

  • Hey Zippy, it’s good to see you - glad you’re home. I’d recommend a 5 minute walk once or even twice a day if you’re up to it, as will help with everything. Bless you and hoping you continue to recover well.

  • Hi . Great to hear all went well and you're already home being spoiled rotten. (keep it up LOL)

I only found I had mild discomfort when getting out of bed but it wasn't too bad, yes and the injections stung whether you injected your tummy or the top f your thighs but they'll only take 3 weeks to finish.

Take it easy, listen to your body and baby steps, especially on a 5 minute walk! Spring is such a beautiful time of the year - I was looking at the lambs, and mums in the field next to me yesterday, today they're not so happy about the deluge!

Gentle hugs your way, Barb xx

No catheter weeing as normal pleased to be home xx thanks for ur support xx

  • Glad you’re getting around well! The key thing is listening to your body - I went for a gentle 5 minute stroll as soon as I got home as my medical advice said absolutely no reason not to if I felt well enough. Plus I’d already walked 5 mins from the ward to my husband’s car so I knew I could cope. Before my op, even though I’m obese, I was walking an hour or so per day, so I was keen to get back to my normal as soon as was sensibly possible. After 2-3 days of 5 mins per walk, I increased one of them a bit to see how I got on, again, listening to my body. By the time I went for my results, which was 2 weeks post op, I was up to about 15 mins twice a day and the consultant told me I didn’t have to wear my embolism stockings any more which was great! Listening to your body can mean either making progress or taking things easy, depending on how you feel. Are you sleeping okay at night?

  • So envious (in a nice way!) that your catheter wasn’t left in after the op! Mine was uncomfortable and my experience would have been so much better without it!

I plan to do gentle 5 min walks I too walked 5 mins to the car home xx I’m obese so have been trying to get more exercise before the op but will take my t easy I wasn’t given stockings I had inflated ones during and after op

i haven’t slept well since diagnosis tbh but I’m home and snoozing when I feel I have to I’m not one to take to my bed but know that have to heal properly

drinking lots appetite is a bit poor but have to eat for diabetes I just can’t get over how well I feel with minimal pain lol x

seen consultant before discharge she was very happy with my op and how I was

just the waiting game for results but I’m not going ho dwell on that for now got my big positive pants on ( coz they comfy lol) xxx

  • I found my appetite was a bit “depressed” post op - I think it may be the after effects of the anaesthetic- and lost 2-3 lbs that first week. Interesting that you weren’t given stockings - different hospitals do things differently. I woke from the anaesthetic and got quite a fright at my lower legs being squeezed! I called the nurse and asked what was going on and she told me they were inflatable compression something or other. The noise from the motor was quite loud too. I asked if I could have a break from it so they switched it off and told me to twiddle my feet instead, which I was more than happy to do! Sounds like you’re doing just right getting exercise but also resting when you need to. I hope your sleeping at night  improves soon.
