Low Ferritin Update

Hi All just had my test result for bowel cancer - its come back negative.  I think my low ferritin is due to a combination b12 deficiency because I had a gastric bypass 7 years ago and the radiation proctitis damage in my rectum. All sounds a bit grim but I'm doing OK 2 years 8 months still in remission.  Wishing you all the best in your journeys Dawn xx

  • Hi Dawn, that's great news! My hubby's bowel cancer checks have just come back clear so it's a relief. He's lost weight and was anaemic hence the tests, just found a gastric ulcer which 8 weeks later has healed.  He's just had his hip replaced 3 weeks ago so he's going great guns!

Just noticed our calendar for the last 6 months has been nothing else but NHS, NHS, NHS. I think they're brilliant!

hope things still continue to go well for you, hugs, Barb xx

  • Hi Dawn, really pleased to hear your test result for bowel cancer came back negative, great news.  Can I ask is that the FIT test?

Also my Macmillan nurse recommended dried apricots to me as my iron levels have always seemed to be at the lower end of normal.  They are great to snack on xx

  • Hi Sarah 16 yes it was a fit test. I do bleed from the back passage but I was diagnosed with radiation proctitis via a coloscopy. Xx

  • Thank you Barb for your kind words. You are an inspiration and I hope you too have a positive outcome. Wishing you well xx Dawn

  • That’s great news Dawn  @Chickpic . Hope they can sort out the b12 deficiency quickly x

  • Thank you Fairy cake it was a phew.  Although I'm getting on with life I still have the wobbles when I'm being called in for tests. Xx
