So anxious

Evening

I’ve got myself in a right mood tonight don’t know if it’s because I’m nervous for this appointment on Tuesday but my anxiety it on one.  Made the mistake of going on google and looking about hormone treatment and saw that it is given to people with advanced cancer  amongst other things so now I’m worried I’m worse than what the hospital have told me, my thoughts of not being able to survive this are playing up and I’m now worried I’m going to die.  I know you shouldn’t google stuff and I should trust my doctors but it’s so hard sometimes. • HI  Yes, you should trust your Doctors more than 'Doctor Google' !  They know more about you.  Hormone treatment is sometimes suggested in early stage cancer and as a fertility sparing treatment in younger women.  I hope you will get some reassurance at you appointment tomorrow.  it's a good idea to write down any questions you have beforehand,  as sometimes one's mind goes blank at the time!

  • Thank you for your reply I normally try not to google stuff so don’t know why I did yesterday.  My cancer is contained to the womb but lymph nodes in my stomach look bulky so they are treating it like they are cancer so gone from possibly stage 1-2 to stage 3-4 so bit scary.  My appointment to my is to see the anaesthetist because of my weight I’m high risk for surgery so hopefully will know more tomorrow.  I do trust them but sometimes it’s hard to trust people you don’t know with your life and sometimes doesn’t help when they say things like ‘oh we don’t see a lot of people your age’ and ‘it shocked us that it was there’ so that sets my mind racing sometimes.  It’s such a hard journey to be on just wish you could press a stop button and get off the journey. • Hello Rach

i just wanted to tell you that I, too, had lots of enlarged lymph nodes which were concerning my oncologist.  I had 18 removed during my hysterectomy and I was really nervous as to what they would find.  When the results finally came back from histology all the lymph nodes were clear - and I was still stage 1a.  Try not to think the worst - they’re just being careful.

  • Hi . Don't worry, we've all done the same - consulted Dr Google even when everyone says don't! Trust in your Doctors, they're the experts.

Different hormone treatments are given at different stages for different cancers. My husband had it before his brachytherapy treatment for Prostate cancer - his voice didn't change and his boobs didn't grow but he suffered with hot flushes!

Don't forget your notebook with questions as mentioned and take on board what wrote about the lymph nodes.

Wishing you well for tomorrow, big hugs, Barb xx

  • Stacie is going with me she’s normally good at keeping a level head and asking questions.  Just want to get things started, been nearly 2 months since I was diagnosed and feel like I’m not getting anywhere.  Started my Anastrazole over a week ago and it’s given me an upset stomach and my back is hurting, worried they will say no tomorrow to operating so think I’m just fed up with myself and fed up of being fed up lol. • Good luck tomorrow , i am glad you have Stacie with you for extra support and a second pair of ears, it’s always helpful when possible to have someone there, and yes take a notebook with you. You can use it for listing any questions you may have as well as remembering what you have been told. Something someone once said to me, take it all one step at a time and try not to second guess what will be said or done, believe me easier said then done but it does help to not to over burden of minds.

Fingers crossed for you and sending you some gentle bear hugs Bear
