  • Hi , sorry to hear about your husband having bowel cancer , but its very positive to hear that his consultant is very positive he can sort it. Yeah i get it, its doesn’t seem fair that after his throat cancer he now has this to deal with but fingers crossed there. Has he got a date for his surgery yet?

sending you both gentle bear hugs Bear

  • Hi GBear,

I've contented myself with the thought it can't be as bad as the throat!! He has had umpteen tests and scans. Today is his last appointment, so I think we may get a date soon. The consultant says it will be done by keyhole, and he might need no more treatment. Now I'm wondering how they get the bit out. Its not as if there is a ready made hole as in womb cancer!!!! We'll manage, somehow!!!

  • Hi , D, lovely to her from you again. Yes fingers crossed for hubby, his only symptoms were anaemia and weight loss - we put that down to the co-codamol he was on for his hip - he came off after a steroid injection. Trouble is he's waiting for a hip and at 78 isn't sure if wants all the fuss of having bowel treatments.

Going back to GP as my chest's still giving me problems despite deep breathing exercises.

  • Hi GBear, I have had fibromyalgia for about 14 years now. We had to put rails up in the shower and next to the loo. I managed to get some modern looking ones that look like towel rails. I never lock the door when I'm having a shower and have my phone in there too. We went away for a few days and stayed in a cottage that only had a shower over the bath and no handrails. It was awful and I was struggling to get my legs over the side of the bath. We booked an accessible room on our next break which was far better.

    Hi Barb,

Hope you get your chest sorted out soon - I too worry about every unexpected ache or pain but someone did remind me recently that at nearly 64 it's possible that it may be something other than cancer (I decided to ignore the age comment...).

I think I can understand why hubby might not want the bowel treatment: the hip is probably giving him more bother/pain and treatment perhaps less undignified?

    Take care,
    Dx

  • Barb

So sorry to read about your husband, I am sure this has been a great shock to you both and I wish him all the best.

I would imagine you are suffering a lot of stress and may be the reason for your chest problems?

    Sending hugs

  • Hi we're just waiting for a date for a colonoscopy to rule out cancer. Hubby's lost a lot of weight (whilst he was on co-codamol), he's anaemic (I think due to Ramipril for high BP) no other symptoms. He's waiting for a hip replacement and says he's doesn't want to go down treatment for cancer - at 78 thinks it'd impact on his life too much!

Going to make an appointment next week for chest! I'm getting totally fed up with this blooming age thing - I'm only 68!

  • Hello , I remember you. Very sorry to hear of this new diagnosis. What an awful shock for you, just wanted to add my good wishes to those posted by others. I hope your treatment goes well. X

  • I have leiomyosarcoma which is a very rare and very aggressive cancer. It was in a fibroid which was diagnosed when I was admitted to hospital with suspected appendicitis. It was stage 1a grade 2 with LVSI. My sarcoma consultant says we can only watch and wait and have 3 monthly scans and consultations and if anything shows up they will hopefully be able to remove it. How often did you have scans? I've just been having a read up on your type of cancer and I would have thought that you would have had adjuvant therapy. I wish you all the luck in the world. Deb
