Hi everyone. My surgery went well and had keyhole with very little pain after... amazing! Problem with bladder though, it was retaining too much urine despite my weeing loads!
Had to stay in an extra night and sent home with a free flow catheter. Anyone else experienced this? Hopefully it can come out in a week to 10 days.
I'm now having a wobble regarding the results! Left a message for Macmillan nurse, I'm sure I sounded somewhat demented!!
Can only try to stay positive. The surgeon did say it didn't seem to have spread but won't know for sure until the results. I know you've all been there before, any advice to calm down will help.
Thank you for reading my ramblings!
Take care.x
So glad it’s over now and that you’re starting to recover - that’s wonderful news. I’ve been thinking of you a lot.
Waiting for the histology results is horrible and nothing can make that any easier…However, the first big hurdle is over so maybe you should just try to focus on getting yourself as well as possible over the next few weeks. Then, if you do have to have any further treatment ( and the chances are that you may well not) , you will be as fit as possible. You are in very safe hands.
Be gentle with yourself

Thank you Pippa, I know I'm very fortunate to have come through the op well, if it weren't for the catheter I'd be a lot happier! Still, I accept it's a necessary evil and should only be for a week or 10 days. Thank you for thinking of me.x
I can imagine that the catheter is uncomfortable - I didn’t have one except immediately after the op. Hopefully things will soon settle and it’ll be able to come out. Keep drinking - and rest lots too as you’ll be more tired than you realise! Xx
That's true...I am just relaxing on the sofa with my dog while my poor husband is doing everything!! Xx
Perfect!! Long may it continue! And it’ll make him happy to look after you, so enjoy every minute!
xx
Hi Hted,
Good to hear you are home and relaxing. Take it easy.
Yes, I had trouble with my bladder afterwards. I was kept in for two nights because it wasn't emptying. I really could not feel anything, so had to go by the clock!! A kind nurse gave me a tip on how to empty your bladder and although a catheter was mentioned I escaped without!!! I was back at the hospital 3 days later having had some very weird bladder happenings, which scared me to death.. They said it was just settling down. Things improved after the week, and I gradually got the urge to go to the toilet back!!! What little things you take for granted!!! All the best. xxxxx
Dear Nanny Anny
Oh don't we just take things for granted! I never imagined the scenario with not being able to drain my bladder! I have absolutely no dignity left after spending so long on a bed pan, having it measured then the the bladder scanner!!
The op is over and I'm trying to tell myself that whatever comes next, I will be given the strength to cope.
Hope all is well with you and thank you for your reply.xx
Hi Hted. I've family visiting and I'd promised myself not to open my laptop for a few days whilst they're here. They've just gone to the coast for an hour or two so I thought I'd take a look at the posts.
Delighted to hear the op went well and little pain, bad news about the catheter, quite a few ladies had to come home with one, not the most pleasant of things but needs must.
You won't get any results for at least 2 weeks is the norm so try relax, don't overthink things - we all do, it's called human nature!
Sending hugs, I'll be back in a day or two, Barb xx
