Hi Everyone, I haven't posted on here for a while, my womb cancer surgery and treatment being a while ago, but I do still read other's posts and value feeling a part of this club none of us wanted to join. I've noticed, as has been remarked on sometimes in the press that a whole range of cancer surgery, treatment and diagnosis has gone by the wayside due to the prioritising of Covid. And now I find myself also a victim of this.
Initially I was lucky, in that my last check up was in September, between lockdowns, and it went ahead, pretty much as normal. However my March appointment was cancelled by text and has not been rebooked, which leaves me in a state of anxiety. Particularly as my cancer was an aggressive one.
I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to be a nuisance as I'm sure the hospital staff are very busy, but on the other hand I'll be a nervous wreck if I have to wait another six months, and what if the cancer has returned unknown to me or anyone else. Has anyone else had check ups cancelled? Were they rebooked? Am I worrying unnecessarily? Any thoughts would be welcome.

Hi Flywing, I will have to say yes I have had my appointments cancelled but they have been rescheduled and mostly it’s been near to the previous one and they have been changed from face to face to telephone. However I can totally understand your concerns i have concerns over another health issue that has yet again been a victim to covid. Its a very unfortunate situation and i can understand that some areas are very overwhelmed but considering that the covid rates are coming down I would of expected that other services especially cancer services start to be more normal. It is a post code lottery as some people have had no delays at all but when it happens to you, it really can cause a lot of anxiety, I don’t think your worrying unnecessary your worries are your own and I would give your CNS a call and ask whether your appointment has been rebooked and perhaps a good time to explain any concerns you have.
Sending you a gentle bear hug
