Was due to have a hysterectomy tomorrow for endometrial cancer. This was cancelled today and no new date could be given. It has been a month since I was diagnosed after the usual tests. I understand COVID19 means the NHS is under stress but can they delay cancer surgeries indefinitely? I am so worried. I hope this does not come across as selfish.
So sorry to hear operation cancelled and you now left with new date . This is not selfish at all . I had my hysterectomy brought forward by 3 days and was in out in 24 hours 10 days ago but last week ended up with Covid and was really ill 4 days last week . It must be so hard now knowing you living with your cancer . The risks were explained to me before operation and decided to proceed . As like you not sure when it would happen if came home . All I can offer is that if they felt it was needed urgently I am sure it will happen take care and I hope you get op soon .
Sorry to hear you had to deal with the corona virus as well as your recovery from tour op . How you feeling now?
Thank you for asking . Still bit tired after virus and slight cough . Operation recovering well stitches starting to itch a bit . Not sure what will happen now as can’t see me having a follow up appointment . Hope get sent pathology results as would like to know if need more treatment or cancer clear . Never spoke to anyone before getting discharged as ended up not in a gyn ward due to corona . So don’t have any contact name or details . Got sent home 22 hours after operation .
look after self try stay virus free
Get well soon Ami17 and take it easy. Hope you feel better soon. Love and hugs Lamb.xx
Get well soon ,
hopefully they will do a telephone consultation for results etc, a lot are doing that at the moment.
Thank you Ami. I understand why they cancelled it but does not help my anxiety x
Georgie. I had the same. - went in for day surgery to remove a polyp but could not because would have bled too much. It turned out to be cancerous grade 3. Had hysterectomy+ uterus removed with polyp. Given all clear - stage 1a but grade 3 cancer found in polyp so recommended follow up brachytherapy. Which I had. If polyp grade 1 would have been no further treatment .Oncologist at my request discussed all possibilities and options. Never any mention of blood cancer at any stage.
Thank you Nightingale19. Was there mention that the polyp had a feeder stem? As everyone says it is the waiting and not knowing that is the hardest. Were you given a stage/grade prior to hysterectomy? Hope you are well?
Georgie I went for a routine hysteroscopy remove two uterine polyps in day surgery. The only reason for day surgery was because one was very high up. It was assumed they were benign. As I was coming round in recovery I could hear them talking by my bed. The surgeon said to his junior. I could not take it all out because it would have caused too much bleeding. But nothing was said to me at the time apart from the fact they polyps were being sent for biopsy.
I did have a clue they suspected something as in the operation discharge form it said I was being referred to the cancerMDTveekly meeting. I heard nothing for the next two weeks then got phone call to see consultant urgently next day. Was told it was not femoved in full at day surgery because iti had turned out to be a tumour growing in side of the womb biopsy showed it was a grade 3 tumor. I was not told a stage.
I was being transferred to London teacbing hospital as only small cancer team at my local one. Had various tests Inc CT and MRI at local hospital and then appt with consultant at London hospital . Was then told it was prov stage 1a grade 3. Had laparascopic hysterectomy ,+ ovaries fallopian tubes some lymph nodes because it was grade 3. Still stage 1a after. So recommended to have brachytherapy (radiotherapy): No chemo. Cannot say app painless but a lot less painful than I feared. Blood cancer was never mentioned. It took ,6 months from 1symptoms to operation.
