Colonoscopy - rectum lesion could this be because of brachy

I can't help with the whys and what's I'm afraid. 

I just wanted to wish you luck with all the pooping the night before the colonoscopy! That was the worst bit of mine tbh. I had no sedation, as I live alone and have very few friends, and I didn't use the gas and air either. Apparently that's unusual, as all the nurses kept popping in in recovery asking if I'd really had nothing at all! Lol. But seriously, at no point did I feel the need of anything at all.

I know how radiotherapy affected my husband, so it wouldn't surprise me if its connected to your brachy. Keeping my fingers crossed that's what it is. xxxxx

Hi NannyAnny your experience of radiotherapy with your husband gives me another avenue to think about. You were right regarding my vagina white patches. To be honest, my first thought about the symptoms was that it was not cancer but Pelvic Radiation Disease . I think I have radiation injury to my GI tract . I did have salvage brachy so that maybe a higher dose than adjuvant brachy.  Thanks for your thoughts xxx

I really think because these treatments are called just that, people think they are harmless. Its only because I could actually see how my husbands neck was affected by radiotherapy that I realised that the treatments can have quite an impact. His neck was rock hard for nearly 3 years after the radiotherapy he had. Goodness knows what inside was like! His larynx was damaged by the radiotherapy, and his neck took 2 years to heal up completely from that being removed.(Poor healing due to radiotherapy) His speech therapist's words always ring in my ears 'Never underestimate the power of radiotherapy'.

My comforting thought is - if it does that to your body, how can any cancer survive it? All this was 13 years ago, now!!

I've had another thought about you. When my husband had his speech valve put in, the body tried to heal up the hole that was made by making granulation tissue. I've heard other women mention it on here. I think its just a way of trying to heal up, quite harmless. I never saw what it looked like, we were just told about it! xxxxx
