Hello ladies I have my appointment Sunday to see Gynaecologist. I jumped the gun and had a well woman ultrasound done . All looked good, lining was good and ovaries,so no worries there and I guess that made sense seems as I had just had a good bleed. They did see a fibroid, not a big one so I'm wondering if I will be wasting time going on Sunday. Just wanted a bit of input really. I also went for my smear test Thursday, better late than never

  • Definitely get checked out. Some of us including me "passed" the ultrasound with nothing found and then had a biopsy done just in case........ Best for peace of mind.

Hi Betty. Glad everything looked okay but it is always good to get another opinion so you might as well go.

I saw my GP this week after having me scan and apparently I too have a fibroid about the size of a tennis ball. I think this has been causing me lower back pain but she was doubtful that it was the cause. Anyway that and a slightly thickened lining she wants me to stop taking HRT. She has also referred me to Gynaecology but not urgently and seemed to be more of an afterthought.

Is a well woman ultrasound something you pay for?

  • I too agree to get checked out.  I was told when I had my ultrasound that they had found a fibroid.  When I had the first hysteroscopy awake he said he found nothing untoward and didn't mention the fibroid but when I had a second hysteroscopy under GA the surgeon said there was an abnormal mass which was the cancerous tumour.  There never was a fibroid.

Hope all turns out well for you.

    Hugs, Lesley xx

  • Thank you ladies I will go along and see what he suggests doing. I thought these people doing the ultrasounds were totally sure on what they were seeing.

Kaily I had a normal ultrasound and a trans vaginal one as well. They don't report on the cervix but at least I plucked up the courage to get it done Thursday and to be honest never had such a quick smear test so was very pleased about that and that's me done now for five years as im over 50.

How did you get on Betty?

  • Hi Kaily

Well I went for my appointment yesterday with gynaecologist. I had another internal scan, sat down with him after and he said that everything looked good, ovaries and lining which knew anyway would be ok from the private one I had done. No mention though of a fibroid so to put my mind at rest I've rang his secretary and explained about the other scan ,that I had an outer and internal scan done and she's requested the scan results and will be ringing me back later this week. The Dr also had a look internally and said my cervix looks ok so that was positive. He had no idea why I had all that pain and then a heavy bleed the next day. Maybe it was just one of them things
