I’m starting first session of chemo (Carbo Taxol) on Thursday at the Royal Marsden and very nervous and down. This is the first of 4 sessions administered 3-weekly with the last one on 26th January. Not sure what to expect though I’ve read a lot it doesn’t seem to be penetrating. Any help appreciated...

Hi Robbo, yesterday was fine.  I was very nervous but the nurses and everyone on the team at The Royal Marsden put me at ease.  They really are exemplary.   Feel fine today and at work.  Side effects haven’t kicked in yet but I know it’s early days.   Thanks for your email - it was gratefully received.

hope all well with you.  X

Hi. Pleased that you got on well yesterday.  That’s one done!

I have my appt Tuesday to discuss chemo and internal radiotherapy. At the moment I am still suffering with very sore lady bits, so not sure how this will affect treatment. No-one seems able to diagnose what it is, but I think it’s hormone related in connection with the ‘surgical’ menopause. Not sure if what I really need is HRT, of some sort. Sorry if that’s TMI !

Keep in touch and let us know how you are

They will sort that for you.  Are you with the Royal Marsden?   I hope you heal quickly as must be difficult for you.  I have to make an appointment with surgeon to view the internal stitches in the next few weeks which I’m not really looking forward to!   X

Hi. Thanks for reply. No I’m not at your hospital at I’m at Northampton hospital, as they are the specialists in our area. I live in Milton Keynes, which isn’t too far away. I’m hoping my sore bits will get better, but it’s been 4 weeks now, it started a week after my hysterectomy.

When I saw my consultant she had a quick look at the stitches in my vaginal vault, which was fine. So I’m sure you’ll be OK.

Hope you continue to feel ok after your chemo
