i saw the nurse this afternoon and most of the wound is now healing well. It’s not red as it was last week. There is a small amount of healing needed on one end and the nurse has put another dressing on. She said to keep replacing until there is not more discharge on it.
my question is how do I get the stickiness from the dressings off?? I’ve tried wet wipes, I’ve tried cotton wool with warm soapy water but nothing seems to get it off! Is there some magic formula or am I just going to have to wait for it to finally disappear by itself.
You can ask a pharmacist at the chemist to order a product called Appeel which is a spray to remove adhesive from dressings or alternatively and cheaper you can use surgical spirit. Put a little on a cotton wool ball(not so it's soaking wet, if it is squeeze it out) and wipe over the stickiness, gently rubbing the stubborn bits. Be careful not to get any surgical spirit in the wound though otherwise you will be on the ceiling! I found it to be very effective. You can buy surgical spirit from any pharmacy. Glad you are healing well. Love lamb.xx
