It could be that you have overdone it so resting up is what I would do as well but normally your body starts complaining and you start getting aches and pains before you reach that point so you automatically stop. On the other hand I think I read somewhere or was told that the bleeding could last for six weeks. That's not very helpful to you reading that back but you have done the right thing by going to the doctor and I'm glad they have swabbed it to look for infection. The only other think would be to contact your specialist nurse cns as she will be an expert on these things and will tell you straight. Mine always gets straight back to me so they are very good. I myself only bled for a few days after the operation but everyone is different and the other ladies will be along soon with their advice and experiences. I hope it turns out to be nothing serious but in the meantime keep resting..You will be in My thoughts and prayers and please let us all know in due course when you have an answer. In the meantime lots of hugs coming your way. Take care. Love lamb.xx
Hi Lamb
I must admit my body was grumbling a bit but i thought stupidly i was ok but i did have a couple of busy days when i did a lot of walking maybe that set it off
I did call the nurse who assured me that it could happen but i may have to see my consultant if it doesnt clear
I think everything is such a worry when it is very new to you
You fear the worst thing coming along esoecially as i was told i had LSVI s
I have my radiotherapy planning scan on monday a worry in itself
I will let you know
I think if we are honest we have all gone on a little bit longer than perhaps we should have...I'll just finish this then rest is such a temptation isn't it? I hope it stops soon for you but it is very easy to overdo it because some days you feel so well! I hope your radiotherapy planning goes well on monday..you'll probably feel better in yourself once the plan is in place and you know what they are doing and when. I'll be thinking of you. Love lamb.xx
Hi dear Sherwood lady,Lynne
I had my hysterectomy 4 weeks ago and am still bleeding a bit (some days more than others(. I have a leaflet which says to expect bleeding for 6 weeks. You have done the right thing by going to GPs. Hope you are reassured by this. I had my planning scan last week and start radiotherapy next week. The scan was not too uncomfortable and the staff were very helpful and kind so I hope you have a similar experience
Thinking of you
Shinygal
Hi, I had very slight bleeding for about 8 weeks after my hysterectomy, I had an appointment with my consultant 5 weeks after the op and he reassured me that it was normal, I am now nearly 10 weeks post op and the bleeding has completely cleared. I had an appointment with the nurse on Wednesday to explain the patient initiated follow up which I am on and she also reasured me to.
Hi shinygal
Thank you for your reply i think what has worried me was that i only bled for a few days after surgery so came as i surprise to bleed again
I was reassured by my GP but good to hear from you girls
Good to hear your scan went well hope your treatment goes well
I am sort of looking forward to getting the treatment feel it will be good to get it overwith
Regards
Lynne

Hi Sherwood lady,
No I have been told I don't need any other treatments, The hysterectomy confirmed my cancer was stage 1A grade 1. It's been a whirlwind few months, the day before my hysterectomy my mum who is 80 next month was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to have a mastectomy at the beginning of September, she has just found out that she doesn't need further treatment either.
I hope you continue to recover well.
I didn't have any bleeding after the first couple of days until about week 3, from then I had slight traces until about week 7 or 8. I rang my CNS who said it was likely just the healing process but if I had any more than a very light period to ring again and she'd arrange to see me to check everything. As it was, I didn't have more than a few traces which cleared up within the time scale she'd suggested. I think a little is probably normal but any worries are always best talked over with your nurse. In my experience she always seems to know best how to calm me down!
