Hello lovely ladies,
I am having my operation on Thursday 12. I have waited 12 weeks and been thinking they had forgotten me. Every thing was going through my head wondering if it was because of my age 84 that they were taking so long. I realise now.the doctors were just being sure checking my heart etc. I have been told they can manage my other conditions. I am having a hysterectomy open surgery and told I will need radiotherapy. My bag has been packed for weeks.
I have had help from this site and have been so grateful for it. I am determined to be as calm as I can and manage the pain so I get home as soon as possible. I have started to shake a bit now the date is so near.
I hope your all looking after yourself and keeping well.
Thank you from Adeliene x
Hi Adeliene,
I had open surgery and was really surprised at how well I felt afterwards, I didn't have much pain, I took all the painkillers that they gave me and at home I was fine with ibuprofen and paracetamol. It was more like pulling and twinges than actual pain.
It was daunting waiting for my op but nothing was as bad as I feared, I had a wait before my op as I was the last slot of the morning so you might want a magazine or puzzle book for the wait, I had an actual book but couldn't concentrate on it.
Good luck for Thursday, I'm sure that they will take great care of you,
lots of love

Hi Adeliene
I too had open surgery and keyhole too so I woke up to an assortment of wounds! I was 61 and have raised BP but that was all ok and not mentioned so it seems it behaved itself! Recovery went well. I was kept in hospital for a few days as I had a raised temperature and put on antibiotics but I still think that was a throat infection I had before I had the op but they were just being on the safe side. Pain wise it was much less than I thought it would be, morphine initially and then they offered me Tramadol and Codeine when the morphine was stopped but I refused those and managed on Paracetamol and Ibuprofen. I also had radiotherapy several weeks later and although tiring it is manageable and you will be very well looked after by the team.
I hope all goes well for you on Thursday.
Hugs, Lesley xx
