Hi
what is the normal time to wait for a appointment after you’ve had an mri and other tests done .i waiting for an appointment to have a hysterectomy .just wonder how long it’s like a waiting game .ive also been told I need to have a chest X-ray and a ecg by a friend who’s had the same op ,and an pre op appointment is this right .please could one of you lovely ladies help with my question many thanks xx
Hi Jacks,
Mine wasn't a 'normal' time! I had the MRI and CT scan, then about 2 weeks afterwards was suddenly rung up to go for a pre op the next day (a Friday) to have the operation on the Tuesday!! They then rang me up to cancel the op for 2 weeks as an emergency had arisen!! I didn't know whether to laugh or cry!! I think I had an ecg at the pre op along with a load of questions, and more blood taken. Hospitals do seem to vary slightly with their procedures, and timings.
Good luck xxx.
Hi hun
Hope I can answer
my mom saw her consultant in the morning and it was confirmed she had womb cancer in the same day she had her cat scan later in the afternoon. Then she had another appointment with another consultant at different hospital 1 week later to discuss her hysterectomy and treatment plan. She was told she would have a date for the hysterectomy within 4 to 6 weeks after seeing the second doctor. The appointment letter came one week before her hysterectomy which was exactly 4 weeks after seeing second doctor.
Hi , As NannyAnnysays, theres nothing "normal" about the timescale for appointments. My Ct scan was 6 days after my diagnosis, then an appointment 12 days later to talk to the consultant and clinical nurse specialist about the results, have the op explained and sigh consent forms, then a pre-op assessment the next day (medical history, bloods, swab to check you're not carrying MRSI and an ecg ) and then op itself 8 days after that . So, about 31/2 weeks from diagnosis to the op day. Your CNS acts as your point of contact for any worries or concerns you may have so don't hesitate to ask her to check the appointment system for your dates. She may ring you with dates as mine did if it's a tight timescale. Hope that helps a little. It's definitely a waiting game and there are no hard and fast rules to play by, I'm afraid. Take things a day at a time - it will all fall into place but I agree the waiting isn't easy. Gentle hugs x
