Hello.  Thank you for allowing me to join your group.  I am wondering if anyone else has had similar symptoms to what I have been experiencing.  I am 53 years old and post menopausal.  I went to my gynocologist because I was spotting.  I honestly thought it was nothing because I had just finished a heavy round of antibiotics and assumed they were causing break through bleeding, as I am on HRT.  I was not expecting to hear that my doc was seriously concerned and sent me straightaway for a transvaginal ultrasound which he said was inconclusive, however I did have a .8cm cyst on my left ovary.  When I got home, of course I immediately jumped on the Internet.  The symptoms I was reading scared me, as I had many of them and was writing them off.  Indigestion - I have GERD and Gastroparesis.  I assumed it was a flare.  Back pain - I have two herniated discs and just thought the pain was moving.  Feeling full - again I wrote it off to the Gastroparesis.  Heaviness in my legs - I thought was due to my getting older.  Then I read that many of these symptoms appear when the cancer has spread.  I have been hysterical ever since.  That was 9 days ago.  Today I went in for biopsies, so I haven't heard anything yet.  While I was there, my doc did say that there wasn't much tissue to take.  So apparently that was sort of good?  I guess I am wondering if anyone else was as symptomatic and had their results turn out not to be the worst case scenario.  I am especially concerned about the feeling of fullness after eating very little and the pressure between my ribs.  Any information or similar experiences any one might be willing to share would be most welcome.  I am panicking because I am an only child who cares for my Mom and I have a one child who has no other family.  I'm terrified to think what would happen if something were to happen to me.

Thank you, again.

  • Hi,

Lots of women pass through the group with similar symptoms and get the all clear, the stats say that 90% of womb biopsies are clear too. I know it's still scary waiting for results though, try not to google, it will only roll out worst case scenarios and drive you up the wall. The site is a safe place to wait and we are here for you whatever happens. I'm 38 and was diagnosed with womb cancer when I was 35, I needed a hysterectomy as my only treatment, that's the case for a lot of women on the site and some younger women with womb cancer are being treated with hormone therapy and monitoring.

Try and take one step at a time, npw you have had the biopsy you shouldn't have much longer to wait to know what's happening, did they give you a timeframe? It's usually up to six weeks for results that they state.

please let us know how you get on and if you have any questions just ask

    lots of love

Arla, thank you for responding. I was told that I would get my results in 7 to 10 days.  I’m anxious and terrified to get the results. I’m just hoping for the best, as we all do I suppose.

Thank you for your kindness to complete stranger. It means a lot!

  • Hi, I'm so glad you've found us while you wait for results. It really is the most soul destroying time, you have all the what if worries without the support system you get once a treatment plan (if needed) is in place. Googling should be absolutely forbidden.....if you believe everything that Google comes up with you'd wonder how the human race can possibly survive. As my doctor always says, the most common cause of any symptom is probably what it is. Trouble is of course we always imagine the worst case rather than the most likely. Typically, womb cancer is both very treatable, slow to develop and very slow to spread, so whilst some people are unlucky enough to have much rarer experiences of spread, not only do lots of people have a diagnosis which isn't cancer, but many who do get a cancer diagnosis are treated by surgery alone or have limited brachytherapy as a preventative against any recurrence. Whilst you wait for your results keep reminding yourself of that and that the chances are you will be fine. Sending virtual hugs xx.

  • Hi reaching for hope, I know it sounds like an age but it's really good that they are going to get back to you so quickly and you don't have the torture of waiting much longer. Did they say how they would tell you the results? If it's in person it's good to take someone with you as an extra pair of ears, and / or a pen and paper to write down what they tell you, it's easy to forget when the doctors start getting technical.

If it's on the phone try and get a bit of quiet space so you can take in what they say (and write it down) or ask if you can call back when you get somewhere quiet. I hope it's not by letter, that's just dragging things out! It's always handy if you can get a contact number for if you have any extra questions too.

lots of love, and any questions just ask, we are here to wait with you
