WHi everyone

Thank you for all your replies. They have all been really helpful. Day 3 post surgery now. I was in hospital for two days but was very sick after the surgery I think the morphine did that to me! The surgery was laparoscopic which I am relieved about .

Home now and being looked after well. I’m not really in pain, just having to hold my tummy as it’s sore and uncomfortable. Felt good yesterday but today feel sick again so I think I just need to take it a bit easier. My daughter visited all day yesterday and it was lovely but I think mentally it’s quite an effort to be around people right now.

The gas issue!  Eek! I feel like I’m blown up like a balloon! I have been taking fibrogel and drinking plenty of water and eating high fibre but no luck yet!

I will get the histology results in a couple of weeks. He said I may need a short course of radiotherapy but I am not going to worry about that for now. I will just concentrate on feeling better.

Onwards and upwards! What a summer so far....

Hopefully one day this will be a distant memory!

lots of love xxx

Morning ladies!

I’m sat in my garden, it’s a lovely day, my dog by my side and appreciating everything!

Today is the day of my hysterectomy. 4 weeks ago I didn’t know this was in store for me , and it’s probably been the longest 4 weeks of my life!

I am so nervous of what’s in store and especially what comes after, but reading the discussions here has really helped so thank you anyone who has reassured me and given me information.

See you on the other side!

xxxx

    All the best.

Keep drinking, eat well and move a little and often when you can. You will hate having your first shower, but will feel so much better after it.

Tilt the bed under your knees, it helps so much take the pressure of your ebdomen. xx

    Love Nina. x

    Good Luck

I had my hysterectomy 3 weeks ago now and am doing really well. It’s not half as bad as you might think.  Get the first week over and get rid of all the gas in your belly and you’ll improve day by day.  After the first week I took a little walk just a few yards outside the front door and felt so much better I’m now walking round the block every day.  It’s amazing how much better you feel just knowing the op is out of the way. xx

I’m just coming up to a year since I was diagnosed with cancer. So far the prognosis is good. I came out of hospital with a drainage tube coming out of me, couldn’t sit properly due to where my cancers was, facing yet more appointments and further treatment. But now I have kind of forgotten the discomfort and how ill I felt and I am much stronger. I am amazed at how the time has gone so quick. So when you feel down, have a goal. I always made sure I had washed my hair when I had hospital appointments and made an effort with my appearance, it just makes you feel better. I still get twinges in my groin as I had lymph nodes removed but as I get told, listen to your body. You wonder will you ever feel normal again but you will, whatever”normal” is.

I have developed some lymphodema (10%) in one leg. I knew something wasn’t right when standing in the kitchen my legs ached after a few minutes and my thighs felt heavy. When I mentioned it to community nurse she jumped onto things straight and had me at the doctors being checked for a clot that day, it wasn’t that was the good news. It was lymphodemia . The issue I had was getting it followed up and I felt I had to keep pushing for a physio referral. Once I got to see physio my lady is great ThumbsupShe taught me how to do massage correctly, it’s gentle stroking, and I have been wearing a pressure stocking for 6 weeks now. That makes such a difference! Not exactly a sexy stocking but it does what it needs to do! I have even worn a skirt whilst wearing it but it was a longer one. I’m back seeing her again this week so it’s still ongoing. I have got back going to Pilates once a week and certain routines I find uncomfortable as it pulls in my groin. And I cannot stand on one foot doing balance work but I was always rubbish at that, just worse now! At firstI was upset at the prospect of swollen legs, it was vanity thing. Now I do my massaging daily , wear my stocking and look after myself, not for vanity, it makes me feel more comfortable and that is what we’re aiming for. If you feel tightness in your legs and feet push for help sooner rather than later you will feel better for the advice. Oh and lie on the sofa feet elevated and get waited on, and if you fall asleep and snore, who cares!. I don’t ask my husband to do massaging, he’s far to heavy handed! Get someone with gentle hands Hugging You may be fine but I know a couple of other ladies who had lymph nodes removed due to breast cancer and they have had a few issues  so I suspect it’s adjustments our bodies have to make. My surgeoFingers crossedtold me post operation that he removes lymph nodes as a routine part of the surgery , done deal! I feel stronger each week and I hope that you do too as we’re running on similar timescales. If you wFingers crossedt to ask anything more feel free. For the record I was one of those that reacted to the back up treatment quite extensively fingers crossed you have better luck Fingers crossed
