So I had my appointment with the consultant yesterday and the suspicion is I have a rare sarcoma and that my fibroid has turned cancerous. It’s apparently 14 by 11cm. Have to go in for surgery within 2 weeks for a biopsy and to discuss the next steps. Going through all sorts of emotions including denial, anger, devastation and fear.

  • Hi embp,

What you are feeling is completely normal, but the good news is they have caught it now and can get onto treating it. Things get easier when you have a treatment plan in place. It's so tough waiting but try and be kind to yourself and do things you enjoy to keep busy and distracted, we are here to wait with you

    Lots of love

  • Hello EMBP Absolutely agree with Arla that all these emotions are normal. We have all been where you are now and felt these emotions. It's hard enough to hear you have cancer, harder still to hear that it's a rarer form. The next two weeks will feel like the longest weeks as you wait for your biopsy and then for your treatment plan. I felt more confident about things once I'd met the team and heard their plan - they had confidence in themselves and in the treatment they were offering and in turn that helped me to feel more positive ( I had an aggressive, less common form of cancer, serous endometrial adenocarcinoma) Don't be afraid to ask your team lots of questions - write them down and take them to your appointment, along with a note book and pen so you can take note of the answers. If you can, take your partner or a good friend whom you trust to act as your support and second pair of ears. Have you been allocated a clinical nurse specialist yet? It's her job to support you through this and also to be your point of contact for any questions you have or chasing up of appointments etc.
Sending you a gentle hug and lots of good wishes. Please let us know how you get on x
