I'm 4 days post op laprascopic surgery for paraortic lymph node excision and having bad gas pain. I'm blown up like a balloon tried walking around drinking peppermint tea on ibuprofen but nothing seems to shift it. I had it after my other ops but this time it seems so much worse. It' seems to have got worse rather than better. Any tips gratefully received.

  • Hey,

have you tried windeez? I liked that for wind.

i also found some exercises online to relieve it before my op that worked well, but just be mindful of the movements you are allowed to make after surgery. Did you get a Physio book to show you how to move?

  • Also, have your bowels moved? Prune juice worked wonders for me overnight

I had some success with Colpermin. Also the nurse in the hospital advised standing and leaning forward resting your crossed arms on a shelf/breakfast bar or something of similar height, then push your bum backwards. Not the most dignified, but quite a good position to shift some wind.

  • Hi , I find peppermint tea pretty good at easing wind pain and bloat plus good as a gentle bowel mover in general, and its very refreshing.

  • Hi Papermoon, I am 11 days post laparoscopic hysterectomy and like you had some pretty nasty wind pain. One of the other ladies mentioned prune juice which I found helped, I also take Rennie Deflatine which works a treat. Hope you feel better soon x

  • Thank you all so much for your helpful tips. Im employing them all and its easing a bit but just taking time.
