Was due to have hysterectomy last Thursday due to cancer of the womb but it was cancelled due to an emergency. Until then was quite positive but the new date given will mean I will miss my best friends son's wedding and now am fearful and can't see past that ! I know this is silly because even if I had had it a few days ago think it would have been touch and go as to whether I could go but there might have been some chance.
Heya,
You've not filled in your profile, so I can't see what type, grade, or stage you have. But generally endometrial cancer is slow growing, so there wouldn't be an issue with delaying the operation. They were happy to delay mine by nine to twelve months so we could try hormone therapy first. Even if the hormone therapy didn't work, they were confident nothing would change with my cancer in that time.
And Smashy, there are literally hundreds of situations and circumstances that are more urgent than a hysterectomy for an early stage, bog standard endometrial cancer - or any slow growing cancer for that matter. (Again, not sure of the exact diagnosis in this case).

Hi Muppet,
My operation was arranged, then cancelled at the last minute due to an emergency.
I had to wait another 2 weeks. At first I was cross, but then decided there must be someone worse off than me. And I was quite relieved I was deemed as not a priority!!! In the end it made no difference to my outcome Grade 2 Stage 1A. Good luck xxxx
Only 1 week. Like I say I asked for a delay of another week but they said no.
I had op for recurrent endometrial cancer cancelled for 15th july because they need a urologist involved because its near the ureter and he wasnt available. Im still waiting for another date and keep being fobbed off. Ive now got hospital complaints manager involved. The stress of not being able to get a new date is affecting my health. Should add op was cancelled on the 4th 2 days after they confirmed the op thats supppsed to be urgent!
