Hi, I hope it’s ok to post here.
i was recently sent for tests to rule out issues with my ovaries following months of left sided pelvic pain, spotting and a few bleeds after sex. My CA125 was normal and I met GP to discuss ultrasound report today. She said all fine other than the endometrium is too thick.
Rather than referring me to gyne straight away she said she’s writing to them with the report for “advice and guidance” and they will decide if I need to be seen and they may want to do a biopsy or they may not want to see me at all. Does this seem unusual? Is it because I’m only 38 and so low risk? And what if they don’t want to see me. Will I just have to put up with this pelvic pain and spotting? I’ve had it for 6 months already, Surely something must be causing it?
Hi little miss,
Did they offer you a mirena coil? That can sometimes be used to treat a thick womb lining. You might want to ask how thick it is and what a normal thickness would be.
The usual course of action for an abnormally thick womb lining would be to take a biopsy from the womb, and then possibly perform a hysteroscopy to have a look and get another biopsy.
lots of love and please let us know how you get on

Hi thanks for the reply, no she hasn’t offered anything yet although I wouldn’t be able to have the Mirena coil as I don’t tolerate progesterone, it was ruled out many years ago as a form of contraception on that basis. I will ask about the thickness when she calls to let me know what the gyne dept have said. She did say it wasn’t a dramatic difference but was abnormal, so maybe that’s why she thinks they might not be concerned. Maybe it’s just very slightly thicker than the norm....but then that shouldn’t explain my symptoms? I guess I’ll find out soon enough and will update.
Thanks again x
Hey littlemiss,
Lots of people pass through the gynae groups with similar symptoms and get the all clear, so try not to worry too much, hopefully they will be able to find a cause and suitable treatment for you.
