Good morning everyone, I'm new, I only received my womb cancer diagnosis on Thursday. I don't have anything to say at the moment because it's still sinking in but I've read some of the stuff here and it makes me feel a lot better knowing it's not just me and there  are others out there who understand

  • Hello , welcome to the community, although very sorry to hear that you've had to join us.

Yes its true after a cancer diagnosis it takes time to settle in to the fact that you have it, you can have so many thoughts running though your mind like shock, anger, denial even but most importantly we here all understand what your going though. Lots of ladies here different stages and treatment so there is a huge wealth of knowledge and lots of virtual hugs to go around too. When your ready we are all here for you, but to give you an idea I am currently 40 I was diagnosed with womb cancer in June 2017 I had a total hysterectomy with ovaries and tubes removed, it was my only treatment as I was stage 1a grade 2 and although I was borderline I feel blessed that I am now cancer free.

Sending you a huge supportive but gentle hug

  • Hello  Welcome from me too. It's good to meet you although I'm sorry for the reasons that bring you here. It's absolutely fine to be quiet - taking everything in can be really hard and I found it took time to process what was happening. So, just feel free to rest here - it's a safe place to just catch your breath and gather your thoughts. When you're ready, ask away with any questions and we'll do our best to help, This weekend it's 3yrs since my diagnosis. I had an aggressive type of womb cancer and needed surgery, chemo and radiotherapy. I'm 27 months on from treatment ending and so far so good - I've just been promoted to 6 monthly check ups for the next 3 yrs. You can read my story by clicking on my name if you wish. When you're ready, maybe you'd like to put a bit of info about yourself in your profile - it helps everyone get to know you amd it means you don't have to keep repeating your story. This group is fab - I wish I'd known about it when I was diagnosed. You'll find lots of stories to inspire you and encourage you. Sending you some gentle empathetic hugs  and lots of good wishes x

  • I'm sorry for the reasons you find yourself here, but really glad that you have found us. Just read if that's what you need, but if you do want to ask anything or just to let off steam, there's always someone to listen. Take care xx.

Sorry to hear your news, good luck with your surgery.

I had my hysterectomy August 6 2018 and 4 sessions of brachytherapy therapy in October 2018, I'm back at work and finding it hard at times to believe I had it! This forum is great to check in with if you have unexpected problems or side effects, at least one of us will have already been thru it xx

Hi bossette. I was lurking around this site for ages too before I joined just to get information and to read people's experiences. It's great and very comforting because there is no such thing as a silly question of anything that is too personal to ask because somebody has gone through the same thing or knows of somebody who has. It is shell shocking to get your diagnosis, thinking you are walking around with an unwanted passenger with a time bomb waiting to go off and waiting for results is awful..the worst. I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer stage 1a,grade 2 and had my surgery on 3rd may. Due to complications I am not out of the woods yet, they got all the cancer out but my scar is refusing to heal properly and this heat doesn't help matters either but that's just me..it doesn't usually happen and the majority of people have no problems or just a slight infection if they are unlucky so please don't worry..it's just i have to be different.! Anyway as others have said take your time,go at your own pace, read the posts then just ask if there is anything you want to know. I wouldn't be without this site, it's saved me and been a refuge when it's been difficult to talk to family. We rant, we rave and we do lots of other things too like painting, knitting, baking so it's not all doom and gloom. There's a lot of happy dancing! We celebrate highs and good news and we support and commiserate when things aren't so good and there are lots of virtual hugs. We are always here and will wait with you and hold your hand in your journey all within a safe environment. God bless, lots of love. Lamb.x
