Hi  I'm new to this site just wondered if anyone ever heard of or experienced a lump growing on outside of womb I've been bleeding for months exhausted a little cramping thought it was start of menopause but really don't know if that's normal scan shows nothing on the inside but docs say they can feel it so I've to get a biopsy done so I'm waiting on a ppointment now a little scared as my mum died June of last year with a very aggressive cancer so any advice would be appreciated

  • Hi tmc,

Welcome to the group, although I'm sorry that you have had to join.

I don't recall anyone in the group starting with a lump on the outside of the womb with nothing inside, usually people get here as scans show a thickened womb. The only way to know for sure what's happening is to have the biopsy and then await the results.

We are here to wait with you though and I think everyone here would agree waiting on diagnosis and results is just the pits.

Are they giving you a laparoscopy to take a biopsy? Did they let you know how long you would have to wait for your appointment?

whilst you wait the best advice I have is to just go about your business as usual as best you can and try and distract yourself and use this group as a safe place to vent.

    Lots of love

    xxx

    HiTmc70,

Fibroids ( which are benign), can be on the outside of the womb. I had lots removed more than 30 years ago, biggest 465gms.

Fibroids can cause heavy bleeding. My first symptom was pelvic pain, then I felt the lump myself .

If I had been nearly menopausal I'd have got rid by having a hysterectomy , but back then I wanted to keep my womb to have children, so just had the fibroids removed, and did then have children.

    Hope it's that . x

  • Hello  Welcome to the group. I’m sorry for all the worry that’s brought you here but as  says you have found a safe place to wait. Im also sorry to read about the loss of your Mum to an aggressive cancer. That must be very hard for you to deal with and it’s understandable that you are feeling scared.

I hope your appointment comes through quickly. I agree with Arla that keeping busy can help keep the anxiety and worry to more manageable levels. I’d just add please try not to use Dr Google too much - it can cause more worry and throw up more questions than answers. It might help to have a chat with one of the nurses on the helpline on 0808 808 00 00 The nurses can’t diagnose but they can help you to formulate the questions you might want to ask the doctor when you go for your biopsy or at the follow up appointment. Please do let us know how things go. You’re not alone in this - we will wait with you x

Hi there thank you for your reply  it's a hysteroscopy as far as I know all of my appointments have been  about 2 weeks apart unfortunately i really haven't been feeling well so I kept cancelling the one where they told me I was having a biopsy  so I'm hoping that they will send one quick  what I do know is a lump was discovered during a rectal exam as I have been having bowel trouble aswell the doc said they could feel the lump at the front so I assume that means between rectum and womb I hope it's just a fibroid but I'm letting my thoughts run away with me  ..I tried to post to say thank you to everyone who replied with there kind words  not sure if it worked so sorry I'm new to posting and stuff thanks again

  • Hi tmc,

the hysteroscopy will look inside your womb and they can take samples to test, if they need to. Are you having it under local or general anaesthetic? It's not too bad but i took a couple of days off work after mine and whilst I could have done without them, I was glad I had them.

mention the lump to the gynaecologist and they can hopefully have a look at it  / feel of it during your procedure,

my team have always been great, hopefully yours will be good too, if you let them know what you are worrying about they should be able to put your mind at ease and explain things to you
