Hi ladies I’m back! I got home last night and had a great sleep and I’m more mobile than I expected - bonus!

I had to stay for two nights as I didn’t pass the TWOC (trial with out catheter) after they removed the catheter! I was surprised I couldn’t pee as I can usually do that for Scotland. So I kept drinking and still nothing. They did a blood test and weren’t happy with the electrolytes reading and said to cut back on fluid. During the night I felt really weird and apparently I now wasn’t drinking enough! However by morning all was well and the pee kept coming.

I got home after waiting four and a half hours for the pharmacy to produce the goods. Injections for four weeks and the lovely stockings for six weeks although if I’m mobile during the day I can take them off and just wear them at night.

The op went according to plan ie keyhole. So anyone waiting it is all doable.

Thank you all for advice, I was comfortable and confident after following it.

Xx

  • Hi Granny A,

Glad to see you back!! I think your recovery will be quite good after keyhole surgery, but don't be tempted to overdo it!!

I had trouble with waterworks, too. It took about a week to get back to normal. I couldn't feel a thing at first, and went to the loo by time!!! I can remember drinking GALLONS after the operation, and the nurses all laughed at me.(they had to measure it) I was Soooo thirsty!!!

  • I am delighted to hear you have got through you op OK time to recover and be the inner slob as someone put it. Don't be tempted to overdo things even with keyhole surgery there will be a lot of internal stitches and healing. Look after yourself and I am glad your comfortable and confident after it.

Welcome back granny..you've been missed. I'm glad it all went ok but as the other ladies say take it easy..it's very easy to overdo it especially when you feel well...and don't bend over like I did forgetting I wasn't meant too. Hope your recovery keeps going in the right direction. Hugs and prayers.x

    Hi GrannyA,

I'm really lad it all went well ( apart from the minor peeing glitch) and that you are back home and doing well.

Time to treat yourself to plenty of rest and relaxation, interspersed of course with the recommended amount of mobilising.

Don't be tempted to overdo it when you feel well, as it seems from my experience the tiredness will then catch up with you. Small tasks as and when you feel up to it is the way to go I reckon.

Thank you Little Lamb, GBear and Mrs Woodentop. I’m trying to balance the slobbing with keeping moving so while watching tennis, ie slobbing, I go for a stroll round the house when they change ends. So short little bursts should hopefully do the trick.

I’m also doing a couple of pelvic floor exercises recommended for week one. They are gentle and I’ve not got to the full whack of repeats yet

    Thanks again

  • Glad to hear you are back home. I also had to stay in an extra night as I had urine problems.

its now time to heal and look after yourself. Take it easy!

TY Galanthophile. I don’t feel so bright today as yesterday so I’ve had a slow start and I’m staying in the pjs lol

The tennis is on and I’m watching that with my feet up. I can do ‘sloth’. Just taking a day at a time

    xx

  • Good for you, there’s no hurry and you have to be prepared for the long haul. Six months later I still don’t feel well. But a day in bed on a rainy day watching the cricket is fine by me
