I have been suffering from the following
Extreme chronic pain in Left leg pain, left sided womb/ovary pain, left sided lower back pain and persistent extreme bloating - 1 day a month with no bloating this goes to about the size of a 7 month pregnant woman
Also extreme heavy periods with large clotting, bleeding between periods, horrific ovulation pain that feels like advanced labour pain. Alongside r Bowel pain and ibs symptoms and problems weeing
About 8 months ago it was also found that I have vagjnal masses. These have never been examined by a gynecologist due to incorrect referral by GP she sent me for a vaginal ultrasound in error.
However although the vagjnal ultrasound could not look at the vaginal masses it did find A ovary cyst to left side, a 'likely' polyp 3cm and 'possible' andenmyosis??
The GP said that gyno needs to look at this as a whole so I was due to have a consultation with biopsies however on the day only a junior doctor spoke to me then a doctor came last minute to summerise the consultation and said I need a Mirena coil fitted and would send out the appointment and I would also get the polyp removed and looked at too. She told me the coil appointment would be in the post in the next two weeks which was nearly three weeks ago.
i have contacted the GP asking about a hysteroscopy but I'm none the wiser after a confusing phone call from the receptionist starting I have already had a gyno appointment so why was I enquiring, tried to explain but the call was ended.
my question is how long should I expect to wait for a hysteroscopy appointment and would the polyp removal be the hysteroscopy I am waiting for. I am so worried now and have no energy to keep asking as I just keep getting passed around and really don't know where I stand.
Thank you so much for your help and wish you all the best with your own personal journey.
Hi Belle,
The polyp removal could be done as part of a hysteroscopy, a hysteroscopy is basically when they insert a camera, have a good look at your womb and take some samples / biopsies / remove polyps. That will get you your diagnosis and let you know what's happening.
A mirena coil will help protect your womb whilst you wait.
Waiting times seem to differ depending on your NHS area and whether you are classified as an urgent referral or not. Don't worry if you are an urgent referral, it doesn't necessarily mean bad news.
Can your gp weigh in for you and find out what's happening? The stats say that 90% of womb biopsies are clear so try not to worry too much but it is important that you get checked out.
Lots of love

I had a biopsy done where they found a polyp which was removed and tested (benign), I then had a hysteroscopy a couple of weeks later where they found 3 more polyps and I was told they would be removed in theatre, I was then sent an appointment for them to be removed via another hysteroscopy outpatient appointment (next Monday) only to be informed today the consultant has changed his mind, cancelled the Hysteroscopy and has now said I have to have them removed in theatre (which I don’t want but looks like I have no choice) I have been sent backwards and forwards since March.
i hope you get an appointment soon. I personally didn’t have any problem with either the biopsy or hysteroscopy procedures although know some find them very uncomfortable.
Hi . Sometimes you have to be persistent to get the information you need . I agree with Arla that your GP may well be able to find out how long you're likely to have to wait. If the receptionist isn't particularly helpful perhaps you could book an appointment to discuss things. You could also ring the consultant's secretary to ask about the coil appointment as s/he might be able to see your appointment date for that on the system. Also, if you offer to make yourself available for cancellation appointments that can sometimes speed things up a bit. Please let us know how you get on x
