My mom is diagnosed with stage 4 endometrium cancer two years after hysterectomy... It has spread to liver and a bit in lungs... Doctors have almost given up.. They are suggesting Chemo and radiation but without much hope. Her pain is increasing in abdomen, thighs etc... Really do not know if I should just concentrate on pain management or give a try to chemo and radiation... Physically she still looks healthy and taking good diet so far...anyone ever be in such situation or can give suggestions ??
Hello I am so very sorry to read about your Mums diagnosis. What an awful shock for you both to learn that it has spread. This is a very difficult time for you both and its vitally important that you both get the emotional and practical support you need. Has your Mum got a clinical nurse specialist? If she has, the CNS is a good person to go to with any questions you may have as to the pros and cons of treatment. The nurse has access to your Mums notes and can take them into account when advising her. I'm thinking that the doctors wouldn't offer chemo and radiotherapy if they didn't think it would help your Mum in some way but only the nurse or your Mum's oncologist can explain their reasoning behind their suggestion. Is your Mum considered suitable for any clinical trials? Or is the treatment being offered considered palliative? It might be worth having a chat with the nurses on the Macmillan helpline on 0808 808 0000 (open every day, 8-8). They can't advise you specifically about your Mum but they can help you formulate the questions you and your might want to ask of her team.
This is obviously a very difficult time for you both. It might help to have people outside the immediate situation to talk to - your Mum's CNS or GP can refer her for counselling and your local Macmillan centre will be able to tell you about counselling and support groups in your area that can offervsupport. The helpline staff can put you in touch with your local centre. Having said that, I’ve just noticed that you refer to her as Mom - if you’re outside the UK I’m not sure what’s available but the helpline staff might be able to suggest something.
Im so sorry I can't offer any more specific help. I'm sending you both a gentle hug and lots of good wishes. Where there is life and love there is hope. x
Hello Bimo fighter
I am sorry to hear about your mum.
I had stage 4 womb cancer and was diagnosed in August 2018. I had a very radical surgery and followed by 6 cycles of cameo therapy.
My cancer had spread to my omentom.
When they opened me up, they were not able to remove all the omentom they removed only 75% of diesease. I was very shocked when I was told this.
I responded very well to the treatment and thanks to the god,
I have been told that they can not see any disease. I know it is early days for me but I am hopeful.
I agree with Fairycake that you need to take advice from professionals. We are here to listen and support you.
Lots of love and prayers
Rahman
