Hey ladies,

So I saw my consultant today to go over my results and I’m basically on the cusp of it being cancer. We can’t know 100% until after my MRI. I have no been referred to oncology and have got an urgent appointment with them this Thursday. So I’m officially under oncology now.

I already have the mirena in and have not got to take 200mg of progesterone a day as well. Plus a biopsy and hysteroscopy in 3 months.

I have some questions prepared but what should I expect at my first appointment with oncology? This is a new world to me and I’m nervous! I feel uneasy not knowing for sure whether it is cancer or not.

Thank you in advance! Xx

  • Hi Meg,

i haven't had your experience for me it was straight to hysterectomy after my diagnosis but I imagine the oncologist will talk you through your options and the potential outcomes of each. it sounds like they need the MRI results before they can actually make any recommendations for you, but that should hopefully give you some breathing space to digest what the oncologist tells you and prepare for your next appointment.

You might get allocated a CNS (Clinical nurse specialist) they are your point of contact if you have any worries or questions at any time through your treatment.

    Good luck for Thursday

    xxx

Thank you Arla that was really helpful! I’ve got plenty of questions ready to ask Thumbsup tone1 I hope it goes okay, I’m quite nervous!

I feel like they are treading carefully and being cautious due to my age. Not that that’s a bad thing! Even my consultant said he was very surprised with the biopsy results. I’m glad I’ve been referred to the right people xxx
