Hi ladies

Hope you all had a nice bank holiday weekend! I worked all of it unfortunately!

I have my 4th hysteroscopy and biopsy on Friday. I’m feeling really nervous about it!! I always have them under general anaesthetic but suffer with pain afterwards.

Following 2 clear biopsies I was told the complex hyperplasia had gone...now my lining is 17mm and very cystic again. Struggling with only being 25 and desperate for children.

I’m hoping I get the results quickly so I can be put out of my misery! Xx

  • Heya Meg,

Sorry to hear things aren't going to plan at the moment.

I was just wondering, what did they do to get rid of the hyperplasia last time?

    Hey Lass,

they treated it with the mirena coil for 14 months. They are inserting one tomorrow in case it is the hyperplasia that’s come back. If it’s not then they’ll remove it and treat whatever it is accordingly.

    Xx

  • Heya,

Thanks for the info, and it's great that the coil worked for you last time. I was just wondering, what was the reason for removing it?

Atypical hyperplasia is one of those things that once you've been shown to get it, then you're at higher risk of it coming back again. The lifetime of a coil is 5 years, and I've been told that I've to keep mine in for its life, then have it removed and replaced again to keep me protected. (Though my atypical hyperplasia had become cancer) The only other reason to remove it would be if I wanted to try for a family.

Which is the other thing, if yours has slipped into cancer too, don't let them tell you a hysterectomy is the only treatment. Hormone suppression is working really well in a lot of people on it, and it's showing great results. So if it comes to it, make sure and explore your options.

    Hey Lass

it was removed so my partner and I could start trying for a baby. It was removed in October last year and I had a withdrawal bleed but nothing since apart from spotting recently. That’s when I asked for an ultrasound and it showed the lining had gone back up to 17mm and looked very cystic.

So it’s quite possible it has returned Disappointed I’m hoping not though. I won’t accept a hysterectomy if it was offered to me because I want children so much. I’m hoping it hasn’t developed into cancer. I’d be heartbroken. Whatever it is hopefully hormone treatment is the way forward and I’ll be able to have children xx

  • How did it go on Friday Meg?

Did they give you any indication of what they thought it was?

    Hi Lass,

Consultant suspects it may be the hyperplasia that’s returned Disappointed said it was difficult to see much as it was so cystic and dense from adhesions. Time will tell when he has the results back xx

I also think I may be getting an infection too Weary feel like I have a temperature, sharp pains and an off colour discharge (sorry if tmi!!). I’ve called my GP and I’m waiting for a call back Fingers crossed tone1

  • Have the GP called you back ? If not then can I suggest you go to the hospital to get checked over. I hope you feel better soon.

    Hi GBear

Unfortunatly not! I’m still waiting for a call back from the GP. If it is an infection, will I need oral or IV antibiotics since I’m only a few days post surgery? Xx

  • I suppose it depends what it is , but being close too from your op, it maybe best to contact your hospital to get it checked. I am surprised your GP hasn't got back in touch. You can also call 111 and tell them your symptoms and that your only a few days post op.

Have your treatment hospital given you a number to call? I know mine did and assume others do but not necessarily but I would definitely get hospital advice. Because they may give you iv antibiotics or oral, it all depends if and what it is.

But I would definitely call at least 111 and get advice. I am sorry to hear your suffering like this.
