Hiya,
Im not sure if I should be in this forum or not. I haven't got cancer..not that I'm aware of.
I'm 52 (53 in January) 7yrs post menopausal (perimenopausal from 38) Suffered with menopausal symptoms all the way.. Tried an array of alternative therapies. Sometimes worked. In the main I have been a bit of a nut case with it.. We'll that's how I feel.
Last year I saw a doctor and broke down. He asked me if I was depressed. I thought maybe I was. I certainly suffer with anxiety and have had bad depression in the past. I didn't go on any anti depressants though and tried to sort it via Chinese medicine. It helped. Fast forward to the last 4/5 months and I'm all over the place again with symptoms. Hot flushes, moods erratic, ZERO libido. Been with my partner near on 4yrs, lived together a few years. Regrettably, I am not in love with him as I should be. After lots of talks we have decided that we are no longer a couple. A weight lifted but still not feeling 100%
I decided to go on hrt. Started to take it last Sunday. Monday I had tell tale period pains..afyer 7yrs this felt very strange. I went with it as maybe thought it was normal from going on the hrt. Tuesday worse, still went with it but was monitoring it. By tea time I didn't like the pains.. I walked into the doctors and explained as above to the receptionist. Also to add in.. I was going to the loo lots. 5/6 times in one night. This is quite common for me in the past too. The pain at night was keeping me awake too. I noticed my urine to be darker. I told the receptionist this too. She advised me to do a urine test and take back the Wednesday morning. This I did. Wednesday I was in agony, holding onto my steering wheel breathing the pain away which resembled labour contractions. I went home from work and took co-codamol and it knocked me out a bit. Wednesday night still in pain Thursday morning went to the doctors before work to see if the results had come back They hadn't, so I made an appointment to see the nurse after I had finished work The nurse was really good and thorough I thought. Nothing was detected in my urine, no water infection. She did another one and dipped it, still nothing. She then said could see how much pain I was in and clearly not well so typed up a letter n told me go to a+e.
Got there at 4pm. Was seen by a student doctor, very good. She got a doctor who decided to have Bloods done and another water test and again I was examined by pressing on the areas in pain. I was sent to surgical assessment unit to wait for results. Results came back fine for both.
I was reffered to a gynaecologist He was again thorough. Took lots of information. He did 2 internals with fingers and the thing that they use for a smear. He felt that was fine. All along I've thought that it was the hrt that had brought this on. I have had similar sharp pains now again over time but never like this last week. The gynaecologist thought that maybe it was the hrt and for me to stop it. He asked me to go back the hospital on Friday morning for a abdomen scan and a trans vaginal scan too, to eliminate anything like cysts.
Friday I had the scans. The trans vaginal scan was painful in some areas. The results showed no sign of polys or cysts. However there was thickening of the lining of my womb. As I'd not had a period for 7yrs the gynaecologist sad that wasn't t normal. So I had to have a biopsy. This was again quite painful and took 2 attempts.
I asked the gynea when I would get the results and she said within 2/3 weeks. I asked her straight that if anything untoward was showing up would it be before that timescale. She said she was sending it as urgent so maybe. That made me feel better as if I don't hear anything for a while I'll assume it's OK.
Of course I have looked on the dreaded google. I'm not overly worried as I feel that I'm really being looked after by the best possible medics.
So my question is: Seeing as I'm so far post menopausal is this normal or abnormal and what are others experiences with this please?
I feel that it isn't normal more due to the fact I haven't had a period for so long.. I haven't had any spotting either. Except maybe once a year or so ago if my memory serves me right. I went to the doctors but nothing came of it, no tests.
I am not looking on Google anymore and after finding this site felt the need to blurt it all out and ask for the real experienced advice. It's the waiting game that is the thing.
Thank you for reading this, I was advised to post 8n this group.
Hi happynow,
Glad to see you on this forum now. xx It's great you have great medics on your case. And it is great there are no polyps or fibroids. I think, you know, the doctors have decided the thick lining needs a biopsy, and this is what they've done. When I got my hysterectomy the gynae could see the tumour. But that hasn't been seen in your case. So hopefully the biopsy will turn out ok.
Maybe some other ladies know some more about thickened linings
Lots of love

iya happy now, I am so sorry to hear about all the pain you are having. If you were to ask all the ladies here what the symptom was that led to a diagnosis of womb cancer I think it would be bleeding or discharge rather than pain. That doesn't really help you though right now. Your doctors are on it now and will want to rule out cancer before moving on to other things. The waiting is the most awful part, on that we are all agreed so I hope you don't have to wait too long. You are very welcome here and I hope reading about some of our experiences and having us to talk to will help. X
Hello HappyNow,
Welcome! It sounds like you’ve had a very upsetting and stressful time recently with everything that’s happened. It also sounds like your gynaecologist is being very thorough. As Alison says, it’s good that they couldn’t see any polyps or fibroids. I can’t comment about thickened womb linings but glad to hear they’ve biopsied it. When I had my transvaginal scan I had so many fibroids they couldn’t get a clear measurement of the lining but the hysteroscopy revealed a polyp which turned out to be cancerous.
I hope your results are good. Waiting is hard but try to keep busy and do the things you enjoy doing. If your results are good we will celebrate with you and if they’re not we’ll do our best to support you x
Hi, HappyNow
Welcome to Forum!
Sounds like your Medical team are doing all the right tests but it doesn’t necessarily mean you have cancer.
I agree - leave Google alone. A useful resource for many things but pretty unhelpful when you’re waiting for test results like these!
There are many of us here who proved positive for cancer but have recovered well with treatment, so, even if you get that result, there’s a good chance you’ll be sorted.
Meanwhile, we’re very happy to listen as we know what it’s like. It. Doesn’t matter whether you actually have cancer or not; you’ve come to the right place because we all understand the anxiety.
Sending you love and hugs and Jeep in touch

Hi everyone,
I don't know how to just put a post up underneath your replies so i'll do it this way, ha.
Thank you all for your replies and much welcomed time to read my post and to give me some great reassurance.
I still haven't heard anything, i guess it is early days still and i'm thinking no news is good news.
The pains have subsided. I'm still getting a bit of cramping, terrible nausea (forgot to put that in my original post)
and a general not right feeling in my lower pelvic area. It's hard to explain sorry.
I am worrying a bit but i am also being positive..does that even make any sense.. It's just there isn't it.. at the back of your head.
I have stayed away from Google, i have found this site to be so informative.
Just wanted give you an update and to mainly acknowledge my gratitude for your time and thoughts.
Thank you again.
I'm sorry to bother you all again but I'm scared.
I'm having pains that are again different and I'm exhausted. About 2hrs sleep last night, sporadically. The pains are in my leg, from my foot (mostly right but sometimes both) is traveling up my leg and doesn't feel right. Sharp and wakes me up when I've been asleep or about to drop off. It's made me get up and check my leg as I am thinking it's a blood clot. No redness or swelling. Also having them in my arl going up to my neck. I've been scared to go to sleep. Wondering if yo ring 111, but I feel stupid to do so.
This has been happening most nights since I started with the abdominal and pelvic pain. I have just had it radiating around my right hip and leg. I have to be at work by 11 and I'm really struggling now as I'm so tired and trying to hide how I feel. I'm a self employed carer/pa to 3 clients with mental health.
Have you ladies experienced anything like this or am I simply feeling more pain at the moment. I have also again spent at least 4 trips to the loo to pass water. I can't eat much so it's little and often, I feel so hungry but the nausea is unbearable.
Thank you.
Edit. I'm also having dul pains across my chest and breasts, my breasts are so tender. I have chostocondritis so I'm putting it down to that but I don't know.
Hi HappyNow,
I've had a few days away which is why I am just answering you now.
When I came off the pill (50 years ago) it took my body 3 months to right itself. Even then my periods weren't regular. I fell pregnant, and lost the baby at 20 weeks due to a weakened neck womb. I then had 3 months of hell ! My hormones were all over the place. Sometimes I had a period, sometimes not. I was very tearful (I think that was hormone related, not just emotion related). I had all sorts of queer aches and pains. I once jumped off a low wall and fell over(not normal), so my balance was affected. My appetite was variable. I did not feel right until my body got back to a pre pregnant state.
Because of all this I vowed never to meddle with hormones again and refused HRT. I got through the menopause without, and it wasn't too bad!!! Could your pains be the HRT wearing off? I doubt its going to be instant. 4 trips to the loo isn't right. I think you should get checked out again.
And when my daughter had a DVT her knee swelled up so much she went to A and E, then was admitted to hospital. That took a few months to get to that point. I blamed her aching leg on silly flip flops!!!
Hope you get this sorted. It could be a combination of things. XXXXX
Hiya NannyAnny..
Thank you for your reply.
I was convinced the pelvic/abdomen pains that started the day after I started hrt was the hrt. I stopped taking it last Friday so I'm not as convinced now, however I think they have played some part in all this.
I've got an appointment at my doctors for 11am.
I know I'm not right though, it's unusual for me to be so quick to get a new pain/ache checked out so soon. It just wasn't sitting right with me. I'm glad I did now.
I've felt so lethargic for such a while too so to be having this on top of that I feel like a zombie walking around.
Will keep you updated. Its so good to be able to offload here. Thank you all so much.
Hi HappyNow
I only joined this site yesterday, but reading your symptoms I do think that NannyAnny has a point about speaking to the medical team again.
I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer, and had a very thickened womb lining. However, absolutely no pain at all. Friends suggested that I could have endometriosis, but that seemed strange as I honestly felt as fit as a fiddle. My only other symptom was irregular bleeding and post sex bleeding.
I agree with what everyone else has said here - stay away from Dr Google. It was the first thing I was told when I got the results of my biopsy back.
You mention that you have to wait 2 to 3 weeks for your results, and that can be very worrying. If you're experiencing other symptoms, then a trip back to the Doc's is probably worth it. I'm sure they would rather you go back to them, than worry yourself sick.
Thinking of you and sending you a virtual hug
xx
