Innate keyhole hysterectomy just over six weeks ago and had bleeding immediately afterwards which gradually reduced and became pale until it stopped completely about ten days ago. Yesterday I noticed that i had a watery discharge, not smelly and quite clear. By the end of the day my pants were quite damp although as it had been very hot I wondered if it was sweat too. Sorry to be so graphic! I wouldn't say it's a heavy discharge but today I am wearing a panty liners just to feel secure. I have to admit that I may have overdone things a bit as I am feeling so well. I moved furniture about and emptied a cupboard, cleaned the shower screen energetically and did quite a lot of shopping. On Friday I mowed the lawns. So it might just be a reaction to all that. I promise to take it easy today. But it is scarey because the original symptoms of my cancer started just like this. Has anyone else had this? Xxx
Hi GBear, I’m sorry to hear that you are worried about the spotting and now the watery discharge, are you sure you never pulled something when you did the dive, I know it was small but it’s still a dive Hun, did you speak to the nurse yesterday? What did she say? Also how is your head now xx
Hi fairycake, I have finally been able to read and reply to you, that is really good to make your daughters aware of the symptoms and especially to get checked and not put off any changes going on etc, I was not sure if you were pre or post Hun, I knew you were young though, your history is very similar to mine, in my twenties I bled so heavily was using super tampax and huge towels together, changing every 20 minutes, bathing 4 times per day, up four or five times during the night, the pressure caused internal piles that bled so I started using two towels one at back and one at front, plus the super plus tampax, I had back ache and was obviously anaemic as I used to fall asleep in my bosses car on my lunch break, what a way to live, three weeks on and one week off, three years I lived this way and never told a doctor, in hind sight I’m very angry at myself, but again I assumed this was life with polycystic ovaries, when I did see doc and was referred, my scan showed 17mm womb lining and I was told I needed a d and c, I never went back, I just disappeared, so so naughty, you really sound like you suffered as well Hun didn’t you, as for questioning should you have had the hysterectomy earlier, in truth I would have also gone with the consultants view that the fibroids should shrink, esp as fibroids in my mind were not such a worry , where as a hysterectomy being a major op and messing up hormones is a big deal, so no I don’t think you can look back and think it was the wrong choice, many would have made the same one, it’s like me I know if I had lost weight, kept healthy the chances are I would not have got cancer, especially as my hormones were in a state and I left them that way, but it is what it is, hind sight is a pain, we need it before not after lol, so yes it’s best not to think or worry about what ifs, and absolutely agree it’s crucial to talk about it all though,
big hugs and loads of love love to you hunnie xx
Hi NannyAnny
I am one of the over 70s here and I think you have made a good point! There have been quite a few people here posting on behalf of a parent. I was lucky in that in middle age I was forced to become computer literate when my husband became redundant and we started a small business. My children have insisted that I graduate to a smartphone. I think a good thing anyone can do for their older relatives is to help them get on line.
I know that some of my neighbours are not familiar with computers generally and won't use a mobile phone either. However I see others who do use computers and enthuse about using skype to keep them in touch with their children and grandchildren who live faraway. However, even then, they are often wary of social media and forums such as this. Partly I think because of their concern for privacy and also it feels strange to expose thoughts to people you have never met. I
I didn't even look here until well after surgery and then only lurked for a while until I had the confidence to post.
Believe it or not, there was a time (not that long ago!) when women of a "certain age" were routinely offered a hysterectomy for common problems. Those days are gone. Those of us who have a hysterectomy after the menopause are spared the emotional turmoil and physical symptoms that the younger women experience. My heart goes out to those whose dreams of children are torn from them while they also cope with hot flushes etc. I am sure that the need for support in this affects the number of posts from younger women.

Hi Oldady,
I totally agree with everything you are saying.
Quite a few of my contemporaries can't use a computer, and I wouldn't be using one if it wasn't for my husband. He worked with computers, so we have always had one in the house and I've just picked bits up as I went along!! Unlike my daughters who both had computer lessons at school! I can remember the whole family cheering when I learnt to send an email!!!
I had been on an online forum before I joined this one, so that gave me confidence. I think we all lurked until we had confidence to post!! I only wish I had joined it before my operation as I could have had a lot more tips!!
Hi Girls, I had my Total Abdominal Hesterectomy on the 12 Feb. 2019, i'm 44 Yrs. old, and everything seems so well, thought that i was fine. Feb. 26th 2019, i had my first watery discharge which was heavy that i was wet all over, From that day up to now i am using pads everyday and i change pads in a day 4 to 5 times. I could not go to the mall for shopping i'm afraid i will be embarrassed again, i cannot stand for long otherwise water just comes continuously. I thought i was gonna be fine after my operation but i guess i am not.
I would really appreciate if someone can give me some advice on what to do, i had consulted with my dr. already and she said i have urinary incontenence.
Good Luck everyone i hope you guys are well.
Hi jDiane,
Have you spoken to the doctor who completed your hysterectomy? If it was me I'd want my gp to check that I don't have a urinary infection and that I don't have an internal infection (I don't know if an internal infection is something that you can actually get, I'm not a medic, but I'd want to know that everything was on internally).
Have they offered you another ultrasound? I'd ask if I needed one of them too.
lots of love

Hi jdianne,
If this is urinary incontinence, I had this straight after my operation. I was meticulous at doing my exercises. (clenching and unclenching my pelvic floor muscles). I also read that you have to retrain your bladder, so I went to the loo every 3 hours, instead of waiting until I felt like it. I actually went to the loo by time!!! It eventually settled down.
I went back to the hospital after being discharged after one very scarey incident where I had a bath, stood up, and urine just poured out of me! They checked for infection, and there was none. I also found that if I put a warm flannel over the bladder it emptied a teeny bit more, then I could go longer between toilet visits. I'm guessing that the warm water relaxed things. I also felt that my nerves did not help! It was like trying to wee in a strange place(if you see what I mean.) I think the warm flannel relaxed me. A kind nurse told me in hospital to lift the legs up one at a time to empty the bladder. I still lean forwards on the loo and can often get a bit more out!!
I find I need a loo stop when shopping more often than I did before the operation, but can cope with that!! At 74 I can't expect to be like a 16 year old!!
I would have thought you need a bit of medical help with this. Have you had your first check up yet? You need to mention this. I think I would ring the CNS, and see what she says, but try the above meanwhile. XXXXXX
Hi NannyAnny,
Thank you so much for your advise and sharing the same experience you had. Yes i've told my Dr everything and i had urinalysis which she said i have UTI so she gave me medicine for such. However even after taking the medicine nothing has changed. I've tried KEGEL exercise and still doing it until now i feel good for sometime, thought of getting better, but still my discharged is still heavy. I am waiting for MRI apportionment as per my Dr. advise hopefully by next week it will be done and we'll see, i am just hoping for the best. I got to the Loo almost every hour coz if i don't, urine will just pour continuously, the same thing if i stand for longer time.
I will try whatever you told me for sure. Thank you so much. Hoping for the best.
Lovelots:)
Hi Arla,
Yes Dear i have spoken to my Dr . Already regarding my case and after urinalysis they said i have UTI and after taking antibiotic, nothing has changed. I am waiting for MRI schedule as advised by my Dr. and i hope they will find out why and what is happening with me.
Thank you
Lovelots:)
Hi jdianne,
I also had a night where I went to the loo every hour just to pass a thimbleful each time. That's what prompted me to go back to the hospital. I think my bladder was badly bruised during the operation. You are still early days, so I hope it settles down for you. XXXX
