I decided to start a thread for any arts and crafts you do and want to share. I know I post in others but I just wanted to share how much its helping to calm my mind and would definitly recommend everyone having a go. You don't have to be prefect just happy with your own achievement. Its Daloni that actually gave me this idea for a thread with her wonderful things she makes. So here is our very own girls.

My latest project...

I have done the shading but I think I may add some colour maybe watercolor not totally decided yet.

  • Hi , I have two brushes one called a rack brush the other a comb brush. Both are great for doing grass although I prefer the comb brush it has brittles at different lengths which give a great grass effect. Also using different greens and a bit of white and even yello ochre, doing short strokes lighter at the top and darker to the bottom and of course darker area to show a shadow effect, plus you brush upwards. You have to take your time doing it to get the right effect but generally very easy technique to do.

Looks a great present from your grand daughter lots of bright colours there and it works too. Painting is so relaxing I am currently working on a giraffe painting so when that's done I will share it.

  • Hi Gbear,

I've only dabbled with water colours. Both my brothers can paint and draw well, but that talent seems to have bypassed me!!  I watched a painting programme on TV last week, hoping to get some tips. She painted a grey tower, yellow, at which point I decided it wasn't for me!!

  • Hi ,

Watercolor is not really my strong point but I have been having a practice, the one I have just done I actually like. Although I made a mistake with one of the trees but as I practice more I will get better at it.

  • I like that! I'll keep trying! xxxx

  • I have done another couple of small paintings, the Giraffes is about A4 size the other I think 12×16cm or approx 4×6 inch just over. My first very small painting.

Although kinda funny when I inserted them the smallest one looks the biggest.

Excellent Gbear, I especially love the movement in the 2nd one.

  • Sometimes you just need a bit of light relief and its surprising, well it certainly surprised me how I found arts and crafts to be very relaxing. No one has to be prefect but it's great to share an achievement. Many have found it a great distraction.

  • GBear, that's fantastic.  I don't get on here so often these days, so can see how your painting is just getting better and better.
