This is my first post and having read through the community I felt it would help me to reach out to you all.
So I’m three weeks since hysteroscopy and D&C and now biopsy results are back and I don’t yet know what they are but that they are being discussed with the MDT, which obviously means it wasn’t negative. The waiting and worrying really is awful, even when trying to stay positive.
Not necessarily especially there is a lot of debate as to what constitutes complex atypical hyperplasia and endometrial ca as well as other pathology stay positive
Thanks Rwalk. I had the results yesterday and the CAH was found again in the reoccurring polyp but not in the lining. Consultant feels we can try conservative management for a few months so has put me on Provera tablets for 3 months to then have another hysteroscopy and D&C.
I just wondered if anyone here has taken those tablets before? I react pretty badly to hormones and am feeling really nervous about taking them albeit totally understand I have to.
Hey there Poppy,
Me again. Lol.
Yup. I'm on the Provera tablets. 400mg a day to be exact. Absolutely 0 side effects from them.

Sorry you still have recurrent polyps the good thing is that is still confined to the polyp... secondly was there any particular reason why you where not on progesterone therapy until now? in either case good thing is that even if it had progressed to the next stage which is stageI endometrial cancer progesterone therapy would still be the first line therapy for those of us who are young and wish to preserve our fertility. Progesterone therapies include both oral and mirena -IUD I am using an iud and therefore can not comment on personal experience though I was told since the mirena works local has a lower side effect profile but on the flip side gets complicated since each time u get a hysteroscopy it gets destroyed and most insurers will not pay for multiple IUD I've heard some pple have increased appetite on progesterone and similar side effects to what pple fer with typical birth control pills
I think because the cells were confined to the polyp on first hysteroscopy they felt they’d been removed during the polypectomy and therefore would see how things were at 3 months stage but didn’t suggest hormones.
This time because there is a reoccurrence (in the same place) they need to try that treatment first. Ideally it would be the mirena but I have an different shaped womb and they don’t think they’ll get it in place properly so oral tablets it is.
I had my repeat hysteroscopy d.c and it was completely benign since I bleed and spot chronicly on the mirena (I opted to have a new one put in after my hysteroscopy to play it safe and avoid recurrence of CAH ) I will be monitored with an ultrasound in 6 month but basically I am good to go I will eventually need a hysterectomy but can hold off untill I am in menopause
Hi all. Not sure if anyone is following this thread still but hi if so.
Feeling a bit thrown and unsure of things at the moment as had my third hysteroscopy this year and they found CAH in the polyp in the same site for the third time, despite me taking provera for last 4 months.
Option was given to have hysterectomy now or continue on drugs for 3 more months and then re biopsy. I’ve been bleeding non stop for 2 and half months on the drugs but I don’t want the surgery unless absolutely necessary so we are waiting. Have been told though that if it’s a bad result next time I will have to have the operation. Can’t have the Mirena due to womb shape.
So whilst I knew this might be coming it feels pretty huge at 37 and although we werent planning to have children it feels odd to have the option taken away.
Sorry to download all that but you have all been so kind and wanted to update you.
Hope if you’re reading this you’re having a good day X
