Three Good Things

I thought that it would good for us to have a regular place to share the positive things, however small, in our lives. Whenever you all share positive tales, I know that I for one feel better, so I thought it might benefit others too. So, if you need a little reminder that joy can be found even on the darkest days, this is the place.

The rule is simply to list three good things that you have experienced, or will experience, today. The idea is to focus on the present rather than worrying about the future or dwelling on negative thoughts. If you are struggling through something hard remembering what you have that is good can really support you. Everyone is different, and there is no wrong answer, and nothing too insignificant to mention. Everything positive counts!

Thank you for your kind words. I am feeling better but I may just be kidding myself.  However being able to eat a few more things has certainly improved my enjoyment of each day. Soup was so very boring after a few weeks.

Happy new year and let's hope it's a better one.

Happy New Year to all of you wonderful ladies. I hope it brings you loads of joyful times . Such a year of changes for me - I only have one child left at home as my elder daughter has moved into her own house, with boyfriend and my younger one is a lifeguard, now at Butlins Bognor Regis. I miss them both very much. Bognor is so faraway and she's only 18 but loving it.

    3 good things:

My son has finally got a job. So pleased. His self esteem has risen immensely already.

My younger daughter sent me a picture of herself and friends at the staff gala party. She looked so happy.

I've decorated my bedroom - after 15 years. I love it.

Good luck with all your treatments and appointments.. xx

Hi Polly, So glad to hear you are feeling better post treatment. Happy 2019. I wish I could knit! I cant work out how to upload pictures either. xx

  • Hi Polly, Good to heat that you’re feeling a little better and managing some proper food. Long may it continue.

    My three good things are

1 We had some quality time with our daughters and their partners yesterday as we did a belated Christmas Day - my daughter had kept her tree up (so pretty) and we had presents, lots of laughter and lots of love

2 We had fish and chips for tea - well, why not! No cooking and no washing up so max time together.

3 I’ve almost finished the matinee coat I’m knitting for a friend whose daughter is due imminently.

Love and hugs to all xx

  • Yesterday was a very good day

I had a lovely morning lavender bubble bath instead of my usual shower Just cheapo Tesco’s I save my Christmas Jo Malone for best

Had a lovely walk round the old village church and past a small wood where I heard a cuckoo last Spring for the first time in several years and past the little river where I saw a Kingfisher flitting along the river bank last Summer - so beautiful and a wild bunch of snowdrops and I’m still here to enjoy it all!

I made some nice buttery shortbread and some thin crispy ginger snaps to my Swedish granny’s recipe  - the house smelled delicious and my OH said they were better than sex - so I am not quite redundant yet!

Kind thoughts and wishes to everyone

    petronella

    xx

Thank you Petronella. That’s very kind of you.

I had a pretty good day today after a difficult day on Monday. Short version of Monday: started the clinical trial. Arrived at hospital at 9am and left at 8pm after 24 blood samples, three urine samples, three ECGs, IV chemo, piriton and steroids, oral anti emetics and two doses of whizzy new trial drug. Phew! They put me up for the night in the nhs chemo hotel - same as a hotel but with a call bell like you have on a hospital ward.

Which bring me to today and three good things.

    1. Hotel breakfast sated my steroid fuelled hunger.

    2. I had a gentle stroll down regent street to Charing Cross station with the sun on my face

    3. Seeing my girls after a night away.

    Xxx

Flipping heck Daloni! And you're still cheerful. One has to be as fit as a flea to cope with cancer treatment. Glad you are home with your girls. They sound fab. Xx

    They are wonderful, thank you

I nearly forgot one of the best things. I shared my story on Facebook - just a short bit about going for the trial. I asked for donations to Cancer Research U.K and so far my family and friends have donated £338!!!

I think this picture of the blood tubes for yesterday might have helped....
