So… after weeks of stomach issues it would appear that the cancer has returned, the scan showed concerning areas in the peritoneal layer and omentum. Since the scan I also have found 2 lumps near belly button. Saw consultant who said process was further scan for lungs and a biopsy on the lumps. Dates came through for 2 weeks later for both. Results (which take a while) then go to MDT and treatment plan will be put in place. All of this is taking a LOT of time. There appears to be no urgency. Surely my consultant can bypass usual waiting lists and at least organise the CT scan within a week? She said it could be 7 weeks before I start treatment. Is this standard practice for rare and aggressive cancers? In the first instance I’m in complete devastation at this news and secondly appalled at the timescale. What to do?

So sorry to hear your cancer has returned.
Mine is serous carcinoma which is also aggressive and it too recurred this past April and in the same place as you. I was due to have a CT at the time but ended up in A&E due to breathing difficulties caused by clots in my lungs. They did a CT there which confirmed the clots and that there was an area of concern near my diaphragm.
The A&E doctor actually contacted my oncologist and I was seen by her within a week and was back on treatment a week after that. In my case I was told surgery was not an option because the cancer cells were so small and widespread and there was no guarantee they would get it all plus surgery would require at least 6 weeks recovery before I could go back on chemo. So I’m currently on Carboplatin, Paclitaxel and Dostarlimab (immunotherapy). Ive had 5 cycles so far with 1 to go and an interim CT shows this appears to be working.
I don’t know how quickly I would have started treatment again if I hadn’t ended up in A&E.
I would suggest you get in contact with your CNS and push to see if they can get the CT scheduled asap especially if there is a possibility that they are considering surgery.
I know waiting is soul destroying and I hope you get seen soon

I am sorry to hear that you have had a recurrence. I understand that it is a worrying time and that you want to sort out treatment and get started as soon as possible. It is frustrating when you are waiting for further scans and then the MDT for the treatment plan.
The current aim for treatment for a recurrence is 31 days from confirmation of the recurrence and the decision to treat/treatment plan. This is the aim. Currently the target is for 96% to be treated within 31 days.
I recommend that you keep pushing and ask questions. Ask for cancellation/short notice CT scan. Also worth contacting GP as they can contact hospital direct and ask for updates. PALS is also worth considering if things do not seem to be moving quickly enough.
I also had carcinoma sarcoma and the current time ladies on here are waiting for treatment for the grade 3 cancers is concerning.
