I am sorry to hear that you have been so unwell and that you have had your cancer returned. I understand that this must have been quite a shock and if you feel like it would help to talk things through, please do give the Support Line a call. I see you have found the Living with Incurable Cancer forum and have had some support from there which I hope that will help with your decision. 

I had carboplatin and paclitaxel chemo in 2022 and have not had experience of Caelyx so can not advise on it but I have found some information that may be of help.

 Caelyx is the brand name.

Hi. I had carboplatin and caelyx together last year. I have endometrial cancer stage 4b but it is a grade 1 cancer so slow growing. I had the chemo combo every 4 weeks for 6 cycles. It had partial sucess in that it shrunk the tumours I have. I felt very tired for about a week after each treatment. My hair thinned but didn't go completely and I had the normal side effects nausea/ constipation. I also had a skin rash and couldn't use deodorant as my skin broke out if I did. Even now I have sensitive skin. I also had a few mouth ulcers. But the benefits outweighed the side effects. I was able to go to Spain. Portugal and St Lucia before I went on a clinical trial. I was able to meet my granddaughter and I continue being reasonably well. I was diagnosed 6 years ago so any treatment I have is palliative and my treatment choices have given me a good quality of life. I hope this helps. X

sorry but I hadn’t heard of this drug until your post so can’t offer any information but just wanted to send you a big hug too.

I had Carboplatin with Paclitaxel last year for my stage 3C endometrial serous carcinoma. That worked initially but it returned after 7 months in the Omentum and they now have me on palliative treatment of the same chemotherapy combination with the addition of the immunotherapy drug  Dostarlimab which seems to be stabilising things.

I hope someone is able to give you some more information soon

Thank you for sharing your experience with Caelyx, my CNS said most people tolerate it well but it really good to know how you managed.  I think I’m going to go ahead’ and it has really helped to hear about your experience.  How lovely to have your holidays and meet your new grandchild.  Take care and I hope you keep well as long as possible.
