Swollen stomach

Hi Annousks, are your bowels back to normal now? There’s a fair bit of stretched muscles and bruising post op so some swelling is to be expected. Best thing to do is to chat to your CNS. I phoned mine a couple of times post op. It was a bit easier for me though as knew in advance that I was having a check up and histology results 13 days post op.

No not quite right yet MarmiteFan59,  I'm having to take senna and those drinks. I was beginning to worry it might be internal bleeding, but I googled it and they say its not uncommon, they call it 'swelly belly' ha ha! Yes I think I'll give her a call tomorrow thanks. They told me that I'd get an appointment for results between 4-6 weeks 

When you speak to her I’d suggest that you mention what you’re already taking as there may be something more appropriate for you, eg like a stool softener.

My tummy would look slightly swollen if I over did things. it did not feel hard though.

Have your bowels settled yet? This could be another possible thing.

I would contact your CNS and explain the bloating- especially as you had to get checked over the other day for the lump/ possible haematoma. it could well be normal post surgery swelling but always better to get checked. I remember my consultant saying that although keyhole means smaller incisions and quicker healing on the outside, on the inside it is still major surgery.

Hi Jane2511, yes I will do thanks  my bowels definitely not right yet,  I've been taking tje senna and the drink thing but definitely not settled 

Ask about Dulco ease instead of senna. My CNS said it was better to take stool softeners rather than stimulant laxatives.

Hi Jane 2511, got an appointment to see the doctor, my daughter insisted as she was worried about the wound, so I've got antibiotics,  doctor said it definitely looks infected. I also told her about bowels, she said that with major surgery like this the bowels take a fair pounding and it can take a while to sort themselves out, but I've got a stool softener and I must drink more water as I keep forgetting 

Hi Annousks, I’m pleased you’re getting some support from the doctor but I’d also encourage you to tell your CNS and update her about it all, as it’s helpful for your medical team to have a full picture of your recovery.
