Lump in wound

Hi ladies hope everyone has had a good weekend.  I'm 9 days post robotic hysterectomy and I've a small lump in one of the wounds, is this common does anyone here know or has anyone experienced this?

  • Hi Annousks

Probably best to give the hospital a quick call. There should be a number on your discharge paperwork.

I had keyhole surgery and had a tiny pimple size lump on one of the incisions but it went within a couple of days. I just kept it really clean. I did show my consultant who was unconcerned and said it was just healing.

It is however possible to get a little infection and there is also something called a seroma where there is a little collection of fluid which can be uncomfortable.

Best to call them and describe to them what it looks like and whether there is any discomfort etc and hopefully they will be able to give you some reassurance over the phone.

    Jane

  • Hi Annousks, it might be a bit of the glue coming out? Probably a bit early for bits of stitches to emerge. You can always send a pic to your CNS if concerned.

  • Thank you I'll fon CNS in the morning, I chatted online to cancer nurse and after a few questions said the same, to get it checked, but as there's no redness or pain it might be something simple

  • Thanks I'll fon CNS in the morning and I never thought to take a picture so I'll do that too

  • Thanks Jane, I'll call my CNS in the morning.

  • I’d suggest emailing her the photo then phoning as then she’ll literally have a picture of what it’s like rather than just going on what you tell her.

  • Good idea! I managed to get an appointment with a doctor at my GP practice this morning,  she thinks it's possibly a haematoma and it should resolve itself,  she took temperature,  sat level etc and no sign if infection,  if it gets any bigger or I don't feel well I've to go back down

  • Sounds about right, at least you have been checked out x

  • Yes, it's put my mind at rest
