I had metastases to the omentum and peritoneum due to HER2 positive Serous Endometrial Cancer about 9 months after I completed my first set of 6 rounds of Carboplatin and Paclitaxel. I had 2 infusions with Carboplatin, Paclitaxel and Herceptin for the recurrence so far. I had an allergic reaction to the Carboplatin at my second infusion of this set of chemo. I had swollen hands and a flushed face. The nurses stopped the Carboplatin early because some people get really serious side effects like anaphylaxis. They gave me Benedryl and I was fine.
I just had my third round of chemo, with just Paclitaxel and Herceptin. My ears are ringing constantly probably due to the Carboplatin. The young doctor filling in for my oncologist did not want to continue with Carboplatin because it can damage hearing. I’m hoping that Taxol and Herceptin will be effective for me. Apparently it is used for people with breast cancer here in Canada.
Has anyone had success with Paclitaxel and Herceptin (Trastumuzab) for Serous Endometrial Cancer as a second round of treatment? If I recur again, I will try immunotherapy but it is less effective for serous from what I read.
Hi DidiOntario
I have not had Herceptin- just carboplatin and paclitaxel but just wanted to say I am sorry that you have had a reaction to the carboplatin. I hope that the paclitaxel and herceptin work well for you.
