Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a nice weekend. I had my 'big meeting', my oncology gynecologist was really lovely, in fact everyone I've encountered so far in my journey have been so nice. It was better news than I dared hoped for. He said I have Stage 1 grade 2 endometroid adenocarcinoma endometrium. So I'm now awaiting an appointment for my preop and hysterectomy, he went through other options but tbh I wanted it all gone, I have mirena coil fitted and that stopped the awful pains I had every day, but I worry every day that it might move or come out and that the cancer would spread. I would never have been at ease. He said it's round about a 6 week wait and I have my granddaughter's wedding in 8 weeks so I'm praying I'll be able to go. It's good to know at last what I'm dealing with, the waiting is awful
Hi Annousks
Am glad you have got a lovely oncologist. It does make a difference. Good news that they believe it is stage 1.
How lovely that you have your Granddaughter's wedding to look forward to. Looking back to my experience- I would have felt able to attend a wedding- with some rest breaks and somewhere quiet to sit if needed. I felt comfortable walking to my local shops within a few days of being home with someone to help carry any bags.
Fingers crossed it will be done and you will be home recovering by the time of the wedding.
Jane
Thank you Jane, that's good to know. I'd hate to miss her wedding. I'm now going to get everything ready hopefully for the op, my hospital bag, meals in freezer, house etc. I'm not quite sure what I'll need in hospital if you've any advice. Would for example a nightshift be vetter tha pjs for my tummy?
Annousks, did you tell your consultant or CNS about your granddaughter’s wedding date? If not, I’d suggest you do as that they might be able to schedule it around it. “About 6 weeks” in my mind means possibly 7-8 weeks so, if it’s really important to you I’d suggest telling them now. When I was given my date, my consultant asked me first in person if it was convenient for me but I don’t think many hospitals do that.
Hi MarmiteFan59, I did, he was so nice, he got his calendar out and counted the weeks, I'm sure he wrote the day down saying "oh you can't miss the wedding" I'll tell my CNS about it too tho. Thanks for that and also the link above
Hi Annousks
I was lucky they said at least 6 weeks and the day after I had a call and went in the following week. Hopefully that will happen to you you can’t miss the wedding! Nightdress definitely over pyjamas much easier for your catheter. Mine was in for 3 days so a nightie was easy.
