hello

on Thursday i had my first dose of crisplatin chemo and my radiation i'm mostly having radiation now for next 4 weeks and the twin combo of chemo and radiation week 5  then a break then in a month or so mostly chemo

i'm just wondering if anyone feels like me right now like i have no energy and and exhausted i cant tell if it from chemo or the radiation , i'm not used to feeling like a human jelly baby lol.

  • Hi Frosty

sounds like you have the same treatment plan as I did.

My first day of having the Cisplatin, followed by a late appt for radiotherapy, and then in the next two days for radio (I started mine on Weds), was a little stressful, everything new, trying to organise travel to hospital ( I drove myself for the remainder of radio) not sure what I should or shouldn’t be eating.  So it could be you’re just whacked from getting started. After the first 3 days when I got into a routine, I was better, until 2 days after second Cisplatin dose when I went from feeling OK to completely exhausted in a matter of hours.

i would rest up over this weekend and hopefully you will feel a bit better next week, if not speak to one of the radiologists. You burn a lot of calories during radio, so make sure you have plenty of ice cream, cakes, biscuits. I got told off later on during radio and got told to eat more cake…

    good luck

  • thank you!!! im glad it not just me (just ate a brownie) i know it sounds silly but i feel like i'm alone in how this feels even though i'm not this has helped more then you know thank you soo much

  • I was really lucky at my first chemo session as sitting between two blokes also having Cisplatin. They knew it was my first time and were so helpful to me, we had races to the loo! If you have Cisplatin you know! The girlfriend of one of the blokes who had cancer herself a few years ago, also came over and had a chat with me and gave me advice.

It really helps to speak with people that have been there…..xx

  • I had 4 cycles of Carboplatin & Paclitaxel and felt relatively well. Followed by 25 external beam radiotherapy with Cisplatin in Week 1. After the Cisplatin I was completely floored & totally exhausted for the 1st week. It's a lot to cope with feeling so fatigued and going for Radiotherapy 5 days/ week so be gentle with yourself. The exhaustion from chemoradiation is cumulative so you need to pace yourself and listen to your body. You are not alone.
