What is going on here?
I was diagnosed and finished treatment for Serous endometrial cancer. It was stage 3a with no clear margins post-surgery. (One lymph node was positive, but only one was taken out on that side.
Now the oncologist told me bye, I do not want to have anything to do with you. You do not need any scan or check-up if you do not have new symptoms.
Hi Popo
it seems that different hospitals have different ideas/processes.
i was stage 3a like you. They found a few cells on one of ovaries, but although there was a dodgy lymph node, nothing showed up in PET scan just before op, so they left them alone, and blitzed it was radio afterwards. I had chemoradiotherapy followed by further chemo.
right at the beginning they told me I would have a CT scan 3 months post end of treatment, 12 months post end of treatment and then 24 months post end of treatment. I’ve just had the 12 month one, which has been referred to as surveillance scan, and oncologist telling me beforehand he doesn’t expect it to show anything.
there have been other ladies on here, with stage 3 who have been concerned about not having follow up scans, and have raised this, and at least one, has then had a scan.
i wonder whether it is worth contacting your CNS outlining why you are concerned about not having follow up scans, and whether it is possible to have this.
Good luck x
