I have been prescribed Sylk vaginal moisturiser but it is proving difficult to get even my pharmacy said they could not source it. Any information appreciated Thankyou

  • Hi Bunty,

I find Replens is good and can be bought over the counter.

Perhaps it may be an idea to contact your doctor and say that you are having an issue getting the prescription and whether they can give an alternative one. There are a fair few different ones so I am sure that something that helps can be found.

Hope your recovery is going ok?

  • It’s actually labelled as a lubricant rather than a moisturiser - any water-based lubricant will do but if you want Sylk it can be bought on eBay - that’s where I bought my last lot.

  • Thankyou Jane for your reply and advice. It's 11 weeks today since my op and apart from the dryness and itching am getting on OK.

  • Hello MarmiteFan59

Thankyou for your reply and information. Don't think ebay will accept prescription but now I know where to obtain it.

  • Hi Bunty,

I don’t know anything about Sylk but my nurses gave me YES vaginal moisturiser sachets to try and I now have this prescribed by my GP and it is very good. YES have an extensive range so worth checking out their website too. All the best. Blush

  • Hi ,Ianre, I am starting 3 cycles of chemo next week, then Brachytherapy.

Dilaters have never been mentioned, .would I need them?

    Thanks x

  • Hi Charliebear

    Good luck with the chemo.

Dilators are normally recommended after radiotherapy. I would expect them to talk to you when you have your radiotherapy/brachytherapy consents appointment. I had a different consultant for chemo and then was passed to a radiotherapy consultant. The dilators were mentioned briefly during the consents appointment. I was given the dilators by the radiotherapy cancer nurse specialist.
