Vaginal Cuff granulation reoccurance fears

Hi

Recovery has been very slow since my surgery in September and I'm experiencing a lot of pain mostly pelvic and lower back and internally.

Initially thought that the slow healing is due to the infection i caught in October but a physical exam and tvs in March showed vaginal granulation (nodular)

I've been waiting for an appointment since to remove it and though I'm aware it can be common to have there's a part of me worried about reoccurance. Could it even occur so quickly? Unsure what the recovery is like and just generally struggling with it all(ptsd diagnosis post diagnosis)

  • Hi

I am sorry to hear that you have been experiencing pain since your surgery.

It is natural to worry about recurrence, especially when something is seen that you are not expecting- but you have done the right thing in getting it all checked out.

Although a recurrence can happen at anytime it does seem that your consultant is not pushing through the appointment more urgently to have it treated. If they felt that there was something more concerning happening then would it not be more likely that they would be doing things more urgently and talking about biopsies etc. It sounds like you have had some slower healing due to having an infection and this may be a factor.

Perhaps give your CNS a call and ask if there is any update on an appointment and say that you are worried about it being more than just granular tissue and hopefully they may be able to give you some reassurance.

If you prefer perhaps give the Support Line a call and have a chat with one of the nurses.

Fingers crossed that you can be seen and treated quickly.

    Jane

  • Hi thanks so much for your quick response. I should have provided more details to explain the timeline. I saw my private consultant in March who wanted to wait and see but told me to update my nhs team which I did though a few weeks later via my CNS. She arranged a clinic appointment the same week.  I had the exams and was told it would be within 2 weeks but delayed due to my needing to be under GA and having a pre op assessment before they excise and biopsy. I think my concerns are due to getting cancer diagnosis within a year of being told its less than 5% in 20 years.

  • It is natural to worry, hopefully it will be done soon. GA can sometimes delay things a bit. it sounds like they are being thorough- which is a good thing.

  • Hi

I had vaginal granulation after my hysterectomy back in 2016. My gynecologist told me it occurs in roughly 50% of women and was nothing to worry about. At my next appointment it had gone without any treatment.

  • Thanks for your response, I wasn't told about it being common etc but found this out when googling. Unfortunately mine isn't going anywhere hence the surgical removal. Hoping it helps with the pain I'm getting though.

  • Im sorry to hear that. Hope all goes well with the surgery and its sorted out. Sounds miserable for you
