Recent hysterectomy

Hello, i was diagnosed with womb cancer at the end of January, which was quite a shock for me and my family. I was told initial treatment would be a full hysterectomy and I spent a few stressful weeks worried about how much it might be growing and spreading whilst I waited for the operation. In the meantime the MRI has predicted stage 2 rather than 1 which I was initially told, so another shock wave, but it could be a lot worse. I have now had the operation (2nd March), which I was told was straightforward, and I am now waiting for the histology results, which will confirm stage and grade. Trying to distract myself by getting myself fit post op. And making lists of manageable tasks to achieve each day. I may need radiotherapy, but I am trying to take each day at a time and not think about it.

I have found the posts in this group helpful and reassuring since I was diagnosed, and thought it would be a good group for me to be a member if going forwards.

  • Welcome to the group. Sounds like you are doing the right things post op, so well done.

hope you don’t have to wait too long for your results, and knowing what your next steps are.

lots of lovely ladies here who will be more than happy to try to help, if and when the time comes x

  • Hi TootyFlutey and welcome! I had my hysterectomy in Jan 2022 and then radiotherapy and brachytherapy. Here’s hoping you don’t have too long to wait for your results. How’s your recovery going? Are you managing to get out and about for some gentle walks, outings, lunches out?

  • Hi

Sorry you've joined the club. I hope your recovery from surgery is going well but don't overdo things.

Once your results are known then a plan will be made for your treatment, best wishes for whatever that may be.

  • Thank you Marmite, I ventured out beyond the local pavement for the first time yesterday. It was lovely in the sunshine and my partner and had had lunch in the local cafe. That was enough he for me though! Now I know I can do that I can build on it Blush

  • Thank you for the warm welcome sniff. The recovery is going better than I expected. I am trying to concentrate fully on that and not let my mind wander to what may lay ahead. It is difficult when other people want to make plans.

  • I’m so glad you were able to go out to lunch! Listening to your body is what’s important - but that means not just taking it easy when needed but also venturing out and doing things when you feel like it! I tried to add a little more each day, even a tiny step more, and that helped. You will be fine!

  • I have been out again in the pouring rain and howling g gale today. Not so much fun, but determined to get back on my feet!
