Hi folks has anyone else has experienced a numbness at the top of their legs/groin area after a hysterectomy? My op was two weeks ago and about 4 days after the op I started to experience a strange sensation of numbness at the top of my right leg. It feels a bit like when you are coming round from a spinal anaesthetic and your legs feel sore and the sensation hasn’t come back yet. Iam guessing this is most likely nerve damage following the op but just wondered if anyone hear had experienced this? Thanks
Hi there
i had this too and to some extent I still do have it but to a lesser extent as over time it's improved. I was told it was nerve damage due to the op and lymph node removal.
I was given physio and it's really helped. It does take time but walking and exercise really helped.
my op was May'25
good luck with your recovery

Hi NickyCros
Perhaps worth mentioning to your CNS.
Still early days after your surgery. It maybe something that can happen but will improve with time.

Hello Nicky
I had numbness around my genitals, feet and fingers and although my fingers are getting better I still have numbness. I think mine was damage following chemo and radiotherapy. Its a stange feeling when sitting down.
I am thinking of having acupuncture..
Best wishes
Hi Nicky, I’m 6 weeks post op and have exactly the same thing. My bikini line and inside of my thighs tingle when I touch them. it feels like it is numb.
Hi Nicky
Do you find it uncomfortable sitting down?
I feel squashed into my knickers around the crotch so i bought extra large cotton knickers which helps a bit. Its not painful but i cant sit down for long.
I also have itching where my hair has regrown.
I have also ordered a new soft chair. I tried a donut cushion but that was no good and increased the pressure.
The most comfort i get is lying down
It would be interesting if anyone else has the same experience
Hi Nicky, I had my hysterectomy 11 weeks ago and i had numbness at the top of my leg (left). The numbness is slowly disapearing but the area is sore, it feels like an ice burn. When I asked the nurse she told me that it was possibly nerve damage. Hope this helps. X
Hi,
I also experienced this. I am now 2 years post surgery and the numbness is still there. It's never really improved.
It's nerve damage from where they take the sentinel nodes out.
To be honest in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really bother me or effect me, I only really remember about it, if I happen to knock that part of my thigh or something brushes on it and then I get a weird sensation, but other than that it's nothing too bothersome!
